Juice in Cereal? Pool Cleaners?

I have two questions for you great ladies out there. The first is about infant cereal. When is it ok to mix juice in the rice cereal, and what kind is ok?

The second question is about my son's blow up pool. We have a big blow up pool for my three year old son. I was wondering if there is something to put in it that is safe and helps keep it clean. I didn't know if there was something I could use, after two days it starts to get sort of slimy on the bottom and sides, but looks clean. It is hard to fill it up and empty it all the time. The pool cannot be accessed by my son or others... I have seniors and teens living on the sides and behind me. So there is no need to empty the pool everytime. Thanks again!

What can I do next?

Hello R.,
My son is 4 months old and the dr. told me it's ok to put baby juice (ex. gerber)in his cereal. So I hope this helps you.

As far as the pool goes with the hot temp. it's probably getting an alge in the bottom. They sell 1 lb packets of super shock. You could just sprinkle a small amount of that in the pool. But I'd do it at night time when your done swimming for the day. As you shouldn't swim for several hours after placing it in the pool. We now have a big above ground pool but I use to do that when we just had a kiddie pool. I'm not sure how big your pool is but I'd just put a few table spoons of the shock in.

I don't know how to keep a pool clean, but do you keep it in your yard where your son (or some other kid) can get to it when you aren't around? Even little pools can be dangerous. We have a pretty small pool that we empty out after each use. That way I don't have to worry about anyone sneaking a swim and it stays clean.

I remember my Dr. did ok juice in cereal when we had begin both seperatly. And the pool question...It is probably the ph. If it drops too low the water gets a cloudy look to it and a slime coat will begin to grow. I usually get my pool chemicals at a pool supply company. But Walmart does carry some too. You should also add a small amount of clorine to keep things from growing. There use to be a special one just for little kiddie pools. Maybe you can find that one at Walmart.

good luck

I started feeding cereal at 4 months, and I was nursing, and pumping was not an easy thing, so I mixed white grape juice with the baby cereal. This was recommended by my pediatrition.

As far as the kiddie pool. There is a kiddie pool sanitizer that you could buy at Walmart, but the season is almost over, so I'm not sure it's still there. You could try a cap-ful of bleach every morning, and if that's not working, try one every morning & every evening. A cap-ful isn't going to harm anyone, but should keep the bacteria & algae down.

adding juice in the rice cereal should be ok. As for the pool situation just add a little bleach when you fill the pool and it will help the pool stay fresh longer.

Just adding the juice for flavor around 6mo (when they're supposed to start having juice) should be fine, just make sure it's 100% juice as most Dr's reccomend, some also say you should water the juice a bit as to not cause the runs...

As far as the pool, I'd call a place that sells pools (such as Watsons, or Odessa Pool & Spa), or a pool cleaning company, to ask them since they are professionals, just to be on the SAFE side! That way nothing bad can happen!!

I am not sure about the juice in cereal, but I think we started my son around 6 months with that... It has been a long time so i dont quite remember lol... As for the pool... I used a little floater with the chlorine tablets you find at walmart by the quick set pools... I put it in at night, and take it out in the morning... It wont hurt it, and then you dont have to empty it all the time... you can also use some bleach... The sun burns any of it away and it wont hurt the kids... Also you may want to invest in a little pool cover... It helps SO MUCH with the slimy feeling... Hope I could help...
