Can anyone recommend an inexpensive but quality jogging stroller? I have been looking on Amazon but am not sure if I should get one with a swivel wheel or a locked wheel, which is better, etc. If anyone has suggestions I would greatly appreciate it.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks to all who responded. I ended up buying a Jeep stroller from Ebay. It cost $130 but my boyfriend absolutely loves it. He can connect his Ipod to it play it through speakers on the stroller. The storage basket underneath is pretty big. The only drawback it that the front wheel doesn't swivel so it makes it a little hard to turn, but easy to jog with. Thanks again.

Hi D.,

Do not, I REPEAT, do not go cheap-o on a jogging stroller. I have a BOB Revolution, which I was lucky enough to get for $150 from REI (combination of a sale and my yearly dividend). I am guessing you could get a used one on craigslist or a cheaper price than the $200+ it normally costs on ebay. I recently had baby #2 but I normally run 30 miles a week and I can tell you that the cheaper strollers were either 1) not made for actual jogging or 2) not made for anything else. The BOB is wonderful because it has a swivel wheel that can be locked into place for running. If you get one that only has a swivel wheel, you will eat s**t in about 10 feet. Trust me, I once forgot to lock the wheel before running and nearly faceplanted. If you get one that only has a locked wheel you cannot reasonably use it for anything else since it will corner like a Cadillac. So, you need: 1) a locking/swivel wheel and 2) a metal frame. No way around it, but maybe you can find a quality one online or at Play it Again Sports.

i bought a used one on craigslist.com to see if i liked it and if i would actually use it. it has a locked/stationary front wheel, which is kind of annoying and hard to use. i don't know how a swivel wheel is. but i did get a $300 stroller for just $50...

Hi D.!
We have the jogging stroller that is $99 at Target - I believe it's the Jeep brand - it's red and black. My daughter is 15 months old - we started using it around 7 months and I still love it! It doesn't fold up very small - so it takes up room in the garage, but it's so great for walking, jogging, parks, theme parks - anywhere you are going over grass or hard surfaces. Good luck!

Go with the swivel jogging stroller. We got the locked wheel and absolutely hate it.

I bought one for my husband for his first father's day and it has 3 big wheels with the front one being stationary. He loves it and our son is 5 now and doesn't want to get rid of it.
Even though we are not having any more children. That's how much he loved it. I think the only thing he would've changed was the ability to rotate that front wheel around for easier storage. When these came out they didn't have that option. It would've made it easier for him to rollerblade with our son if the front wheel moved, but he managed. Still folds up pretty tight though.
I bought his on ebay and it was much cheaper than going to the store. I think in the store ours ran for like almost $200 I got his for $97 brand new still in box. The lady had gotten two at her baby shower. So, decide what you like and then check them out on ebay.

I have the BOB Revolution, it has a swivel front wheel that locks out for jog mode and I LOVE IT!!!! It is pricey @ approx. $360,but maybe you could find a used one on Ebay? It was well worth the $$, if I have a second one, I will def. buy the double! Good luck!

It's not designed as a jogging stroller, but I've used it as such. I love the Phil and Ted's E3. It's a great double stroller, and has big wheels. The front tires can be locked in or swivel free. I like running with the wheel able to swivel. Makes it easier to manuveur. It's a bit pricey, but worth every penny, especially if you plan on having another child.

If you want the stroller just for jogging, go with the fixed front wheel. Fixing the front wheel makes it more stable and you can push it while running with less effort.

If the stroller is going to be more multi-functional, and you are going to mostly use it to push your child around stores, then you might want to get the swivel wheel. The front wheel swiveling improves maneuverability when not jogging, so it's easier to push around tight aisles shopping.

I bought a fixed front wheel jog-stroller, and even when pushing it around stores haven't had too much of a problem with maneuverability.

I just bought a baby trend expedition double jogger ( they also make a single) I LOVE IT!! I have had 3 joggers swivle wheel and stationary wheel and I would recommend a swivle wheel. It is more functional and there should be a feature on the jogger that you can make the swivle wheel stationary if needed. You can buy it at babies r us and I think it is around $130-150.00
Good luck

I have a BabyTrend jogging stroller that I got from BRU. I think it's great and it was relatively inexpensive. I have used it almost daily for over a year and it's still great! I would defiantely get the kind that has a locking/unlocking front wheel for versatility also.

Good luck,

E.

Get one with the swivel wheel. I have a Jeep and I believe it was about $140.00 but Baby R' Us always give $20 off coupons or 15% off your order. I love mine and bought it for a friend for a shower gift.

I have a Bob, which I love. It is expensive, but I do love it and think it is worth every penny. If you do plan to jog, I would highly recommend the swivel wheel. I do a lot of walking and do jog some as well and the swivel wheel is great.
