Hi Moms,

I'm interested in purchasing a jogging stroller. I have a 3 yr old and 1 yr old so will more than likely be getting a double one. Can anyone recommend a good brand of stroller? I am trying to buy one off of Craigslist and don't want to throw away money to one thats no good since I won't be able to return it.
A few brands that I've seen on there are - In step, Baby Trend & Kelty.
The Kelty is a doube and the other two are singles.
Also, are the doubles harder to manuever than the singles?
Any advice you have for me will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks Moms

Something to also consider (maybe) is your height and the kind/type of jogging trail you plan to use. I'm fairly short (5'2") and used a stroller without a swivel wheel on a curvy jogging trail. I spent more energy directing/pushing the stroller through and/or propping the stroller on two wheels for easier manueverability on the curvy trail than I did walking. It wasn't fun. I finally switched to a stroller with the swivel wheel and it made all of the difference in the experience. Hope it helps.

I love my BOB Revolution Duallie for my 2 boys. BOB is by far the most popular brand in my Stroller Strides group. Be careful because there are some brands that have a problem with the front wheel and the whole stroller flips over. I read reviews about it happening, and then it really happened to someone during a Stroller Strides class.
Good luck,
A.

Hi N.!

I highly recommend the BOB Revolution Duallie. I bought mine when my children were the very same age that both of yours are now.

I like it because I can adjust the seating separately for each child (i.e. recline for the napping baby). The sun shades provide great coverage and are also adjustable separately.

The front wheel will lock if you prefer running or swivel if you are on a windy path. They are so easy to push and my husband and I use ours all the time! It folds up easy and is fairly light for a double. Great storage as well!

I will be honest, they are not cheap, however if you can get one on Craigs list that would be a big plus. If you do buy brand new, and need to sell later, they really do hold their value!

I teach a Stroller class, so if you need more information, I have a blog that has some tips on what to look for in a stroller...please feel free to check it out at www.strollerstridesallen.blogspot.com.

Best of luck!
E.

I have a Jeep brand jogging stroller and love it! It's just a single but I'm pretty sure they make a double, too. Mine has a little lock on the front wheel that you are suppose to use when you're on uneven surfaces like gravel or grass. It keeps the wheel from turning so it's nice and stable. I have the lock off the rest of the time which makes for easy maneuvering. Not all or them have the lock so look for one that does. Also, some of the strollers have mini, like bicycle tires and some have kinda a sold rubber tire. I was instructed to get the solid rubber kind because they won't pop or go flat. The guy at Babies R Us said they've had a lot of people have their mini bicycle type tires pop and they had to order ones from the manufacturer directly because most bike stores don't carry them, which can be a hassle.

I'm really happy with mine! Good luck jogging! :)

if you're buying it second-hand/off Craigslist ... ask about the condition of the tires before you buy. Ask if there are any leaks. That can be an issue with some 2nd hand jogging strollers -- then you're constantly having to air up the tires before every outing.

Are you looking for a stroller just for jogging or for everyday also? If you are looking for both then I would agree with the previous post about the tire and it is also nice to have the swivel wheel for maneuvering around in a mall.

If you just want to jog then I would suggest a larger fixed wheel, I used a single with my first son and LOVED it so when my second was coming, I bought the same thing in a double. Ours is lightweight and has a fixed wheel. It is the same brand as the single but I didn’t take the weight of both boys into consideration.

We literally used this one twice, it is a beautiful Orange and Grey InStep… here is the link:

With 2 chunky Monkeys and a good hill, it was just too heavy for me to push and jog so I bought a treadmill so I could jog at home :-) Let me know if you would like more information.

Good Luck!
E.
