JFF: What TV Shows Are You Watching?

I PVR several shows. I like Modern Family, Big Bang Theory, The Middle, True Blood, The Vampire Diaries, The Originals. I watch CSI, Law and Order and Bones, but not faithfully. I enjoy Hemlock Grove on Netflix. We stay at home on Sunday evenings to watch The Walking Dead when it is in season. I hate talk shows and the only reality show I like is Gordon Ramsey's Hotel Hell.

My kids watch Modern Family, Big Bang and The Walking Dead. They also enjoy America's Funniest Videos. Mostly they like to watch movies on Netflix.

My husband likes Discovery Channel stuff, but rarely watches any TV other than The Walking Dead.

What's on in your house?

PS. Sorry about all the TV questions. I'm stuck at home this morning and a little bored, but I don't want to turn on the TV because it is nice and quiet right now!

So What Happened?

Laurie A.-My kids have also been watching Dr. Who on Netflix. I haven't started yet, but I might.

I forgot American Horror Story and Criminal Minds. And Under the Dome.

I also watch Gimm, and I agree that the Originals can get pretty boring.

My Sunday nights are planned around The Good Wife. I miss Will, though.

Nashville and Revenge are simple, tension filled drama that they make me de-stress and appreciate my own problems, LOL

We just got into The Blacklist and we are going to try The Following this season.

I do try to catch Grey's and Scandal. Sometimes when you invest watching a show so long it's hard to not watch it.

Kids like Austin and Ally, I didn't Do It, and the new Boy Meets World.
Good Luck Charlie was the best show! So sad they ended it, but the kids also found Full House and like it

My must sees:

The Good Wife
Mad Men
Downton Abbey

My catch up on-demand because I'm usually not home:
Criminal Minds
Grey's Anatomy

The kids and I watch marathons of Modern Family either on re-runs or on-demand so I usually don't watch that when it's on.

I also watch any and all Law & Order when I catch it.

My oldest son and I are both up early these days so we watch The Daily Show and Colbert on demand a few days after they air.

These are the ones I currently watch: Defiance, Continuum, Extant, Murdoch Mysteries, Sherlock, and I'm about to start catching up with Doctor Who. My husband and I watch Master Chef, Chopped, and other cooking shows together, as well as The Daily Show and The Colbert Report. The kids have been cracking out on House and the Walking Dead this summer, and my one son really likes Anime shows, so he watches those, too.

We have Amazon Prime, Netflix, and Hulu for out tv, no cable, so when we watch we tend to watch a bunch of shows at once. I also found a free streaming site online where I can watch the episodes that aren't yet available/cost money b/c they are too new.

OMG! How can I forget Outlander??? I've been waiting for this to made into a tv show or movie for YEARS! The free site I mentioned has this, too, so I don't even need to get cable/Starz to watch it!

I'll edit later if I think of anything else.

Fun stuff, these questions.

I love PBS and a huge variety of the shows on that channel. Love Masterpiece Theater, Nova, Nature and several of the outdoor shows, New Tricks and Midsomer Murders, Doc Martin...

On regular network (we don't have cable) we like Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Parks and Rec, Bones, some of the Gordon Ramsey cooking contests (guilty pleasure!), The Simpsons, and likely a few more I'm forgetting right now...

and on Amazon Prime we are enjoying Hello Ladies (Stephen Merchant), Drunk History, some of the National Geographic prehistoric animal shows (love those) and various movies/old BBC series-- any that we can get for free. We also get a lot of dvds from the library or local video store, too.

The only one I ever really watch every episode of eventually is Dance Moms. I don't know what it is but I can't stop watching that train wreck of a dance teacher and those cookoo moms.

I like Modern Family too.

As a family we are really enjoying America's Got Talent. Lots of cool acts this year.

I am working and I've got 3 small kids so the best I can do is 15 minutes of an episode here and there. I watch movies too and it takes me 3-4 sittings to get through one. Someday... I loooved Survivor when I was on maternity leave and I really hope I'll be able to squeeze it in this next season.

We like all the cop shows and have been using the summer rerun season to catch up on things we don't normally watch that much, or older episodes of things we have discovered. Our new favorite is "Criminal Minds" - old and new episodes. But we've enjoyed the various "Law & Order" versions over the years (especially SVU but we're expanding into old "Criminal Intent" episodes) and some of the CSI variations. We like "Castle" especially because my husband is a writer.

I loved "The Newsroom" (Jeff Daniels in particular) and I'm sad that it doesn't seem to have been renewed.

One of the best is "Suits" - so well written, such great characters, drama and great humor rolled into one. It's complicated so we usually watch it On Demand so we can rewind it to get some details or just hear some terrific dialogue a second time. I recommend that people binge-watch from the beginning. It sounds like a big commitment but, with limited commercials, each episode goes pretty quickly. That's how we got caught up with "Breaking Bad", another fantastic series - dark but also funny.

LIke you, we enjoy "Modern Family". For complete and zany escapisms, we watch the new "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" because we think the improv is hilarious, and often "Dancing with the Stars"

It's not Dr. Who, its Doctor Who. And we love it! :)

I've also started Finding Carter on MTV this summer, and Parks and Rec. Parks and Rec is so funny! I don't know why I waited so long to watch it, but it was nice to marathon on my maternity leave. Another summer show I watch is Switched at Birth.

Other shows during the regular season (that you don't already watch) are Agents of SHIELD, Once Upon a Time (although I might give it up since the new Frozen storyline looks stupid. But they need to milk that Frozen cash cow!), Community, Castle. I hate reality shows, but my Grandpa got me hooked on Pawn Stars this summer. I think I like it because of the history behind the stuff people bring in. In that vein, I also love Mysteries at the Museum and Monumental Mysteries, pretty much any historical based show hosted by Don Wildman. (He also did Cities of the Underworld, which I love!)

DYING for the new walking dead and dr who seasons to start! and for netflix to get on the stick adding seasons.
those are the only ones i watch in their seasons. my dh and i are netflixing 'rome' and re-watching 'the sopranos'. boardwalk empire has a new season releasing on dvd soon. we also like modern family, mad men, orange is the new black, doc martin and house of cards although there's nothing new available in them.
my dh likes pawn stars and the house rehab shows. i like cooking competitions of all kind, tattoo contests, and my shame-show, america's next top model (although i hate the 'new' format.)
and i have a sneaking fondness for judge judy, in all her snarky meanness.

I don't have a show I prefer. I might catch bits here and there but I stopped regularly watching years ago. Now the TV is just an expensive noise machine. I think I have seen The Biggest Loser a fw times, DWTS a handful and I love that one. I always forget.
