JFF - I Can't Believe This Made Me Cry! LOL :)

So who else cries at the goofiest things post-childbirth?

I'm watching Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit, and it's the end when the choir is sing "Joyful, Joyful", and I freaking burst into tears and drip through the whole song! Really!???? It's not like major dramatic cinema LOL. Ever since I had my son 5 years ago, the goofiest things make me cry - they're usually parent/child related, but they can be a single scene, like Transformers 2 when the kid gets hurt and the parents are freaking (yes, I teared up at Transformers 2 also). I feel like a hormonal nut-jub - it's ridiculous and cracks me up.

Will it ever end? What are your funny "why the heck am I crying at this?" stories?

What can I do next?

@Adansmama- OMG- I thought I was the only one who's done that!! That's happened to me a few times- laughing hysterically one minute- then sobbing uncontrollably the next. Weird, isn't it?

@Amanda- LOL- I had a similar experience after I had my daughter- only I cried because I had no conditioner.

Hormones are a powerful thing! I was never too terribly weepy over stuff before but after I had a hysterectomy I started crying over laundry detergent comercials and everything a cute baby did on tv. My husband walked in one day and it was obvious I was crying. He asked me what was wrong and all I could do was sob "Im so happy they got the stains out of the shirt".. I got a nice big hug from him and the whole time I could tell he was laughing under his breath.lol I happily take pills to stop that now..lol

I used to endlessly make fun of my mother when I was a teenager because everything made her tear up. Now at 33, I find it happening to me too! My 2 1/2 year old loves Toy Story 3, and the ending when he gives up Woody and his toys to the little girl before going to college makes me well up! I also have several songs that really hit me..."There you'll be" by Faith Hill, always makes me think of my Mom (she passed away in 2000) and "Because you loved me" by Celine Dion, it is the song I danced to at my wedding 10 years ago with my Dad.

I cried at Arthur Christmas and it touched me so much we saw it twice in the theater! That Arthur's spirit touched me so much! I have to remind myself he's a fictional character!

I recently bought The Land Before Time, the first original one. I remember loving that movie as a kid. I cried when his mom died. I cried whenever they made him sad about it. I cried when they got to the Great Valley. I think my kid thought I was losing it!

I used to NEVER cry at movies and maybe even went as far as to think those that did were a little dumb. But now.... bring the tissues for me!

Hmmm! Nothing wrong with crying. It's a great release. Sometimes when I'm feeling sad but don't know why I'll purposely watch a sad movie so I can cry.

Your son was born 5 years ago. I don't think you can blame your tears on being post partum. lol

Ok so I used to make fun of my Aunt who, at the drop of a dime, would randomly burst into tears at the sight of a beautiful child, a loving moment, a scene in a movie, etc. Then I had children of my own....and I remember watchign the Kodak commercial where the dad was holding the baby in the light...and I COMPLETELY LOST MY MIND. Yeah...it was bad.

So enter the 3rd child. I get choked up at everything he does. I'm in AWE of him and his growth and watching him find his way. It is a blessing to me that he chose me to be his mom. OMG.

So after all that, enter menopause. That glorious time when you will be at a stop light, a song with come on and you'll remember when....and you realize that the person in the car next to you is probably contemplating calling 911 because there's a women crying hysterically in the car next to them. Yeah...that'd be me.

I think it's cause I find every day I'm alive joyful. And that it truly is the little things that define us. And what a blessing it is to be a mother. And DAMN you Kodak commercials and babies and friends being friends and husbands loving their wifes and music and movies and and and...

I feel ya.

Sending good thoughts your way. ;)

I never cried at anything until I was pregnant, and I've been hopeless ever since. That's over 40 years, now.

The goofiest thing that ever got me bawling was the mice singing in the movie "Babe." I really embarrassed myself. Fortunately, the only person with me was my adult daughter, who is used to it. And since she had her son, she cries at everything, too.

I never cried at movies (or it was EXTREMELY rare) until I became a Mother. I think your perspective, experience and empathy swells and things are never the same again.

I'll cry during movies, some commercials, music... doesn't matter. Generally has to do with situations, children/babies/parents, sentimental thoughts. Speaking of sentimental thoughts, I cry during the song "1,000 years" by Christina Perry...

I cry when my daughter discovers a movie from my childhood- Annie- the first time we watched it together I teared up through the first 3 songs. It was just such a favorite from my own childhood, ya'know?

Sometimes I get teary at some of the songs on the radio. Not often. And usually only if I am alone in the car (doesn't happen often) and am really listening to the words. NEVER cried at ANYTHING before having kids. And apparently it doesn't go away once you are past the post-partum period either. My youngest is 10 years old!

I had my baby on Thursday and in the hospital on Friday night I finally got a chance to shower and was totally looking forward to it, the nursery staff had my baby for not very long(exclusively breastfeeding) and I had a small window to shower before they brought him back.

THE SHOWER WAS FREEzING COLD

I cried the whole time, I even cried afterwards because of how cold I was.

I never cry about stuff like that.

I cry at hallmark commercials! It doesn't take much for me. When my first born was just a few months old I was going to the grocery store and it was Memorial Day weekend so the cute old vets were out front looking for donations and giving out the "poppies". I would always avoid them and think to myself "don't look them in the eye, maybe they won't ask for money". You know, young and full of selfish attitude. But that day my hormones were raging and I became overwhelmed with emotion when I thought about what all those wonderful men and women did for my freedom and how selfish I was! I balled like a baby and now when I see the vets at the grocery I donate as much as I can and thank them for their service. I try to instill this appreciation to my daughters.

I cry at the Joyful Joyful scene too ... and so sad to admit this ... but also at Transformers ... although, not when the parents are freaking out, but when Bumble Bee the CAR gets hurt and they think he might be dead ... can't help it, I lose it. Also cry at Hallmark commercials, the National Anthem, anytime I see a list of service members who have lost their lives serving our country .... well, I think you get the picture.

Ha! I am the sameway too! Have you ever seen the movie "A little princess"? I cry ALL the time! Although it was a sad movie, It's about a young girl who is around 8 years old, her mother passed away and the father was going off to war and so he enrolled her in this all girls live in school, she was rich and greatful for everything, had a huge heart and never judged anyone that was less fortunate. Anyways, the school recived a letter that her father was killed while at war, so the "evil" owner of the school too everything away from her and made her a servant girl. Fast forward- there was a part where she finds out it wasnt her father that was killed and she reunites with her father, it was just sooooooooo sad! But I love that movie! But i'm the sameway, or like the cartoon "the rescuers" I cry at the end, the song they play is just soo beautiful! Lol

I don't know about crying, but I do well up at somethings. I watched that same movie the other day and welled up too, but that was a first. I am the same as most of your other responses, never a crier, (and honestly it's still pretty rare) but more so now that I am a mom.

The scene in the 4th Harry Potter when Cedric died got to me the other day. I don't really think it's the movie that gets you, just the depth of the acting. Some of those people convey grief really well!

Any video with kids and their solider dads and mom's coming home get me. Probably the only thing that truly makes me cry, I am talking tears streaming down, crying. But those are happy tears. :)

Just yesterday I was watching a re-run of Roseanne. The episode was about Becky (her eldest) telling her mom that she needed to go on birth control. It cracked me up! Then at the end she tells her mom that she had already had sex, used protection, and her mom and her have a hug. Becky goes to let go and says, "mom! let go!" And mom says, "No, not for another 5 years". I teared up and then laughed at myself for tearing up.
