Hi mamas!

Just curious--those of you that celebrate Christmas and put up a tree--WHEN do you put up your tree? I LOVE Christmas! It's my favorite time of year. I've been listening to Christmas music for a week or so now. I'm ready to put up my tree!! I usually do it the day after Thanksgiving but I'm thinking about doing it early this year. So...when are you doing it?? :)

What can I do next?

The lights went up last weekend because we had amazing weather. The trees will go up this weekend and next weekend. It just takes too long to decorate my house and I am too cheap to pay anyone. Oh I am also too anal to allow my children to help which is rather sad. Maybe I should get some therapy for that, or perhaps properly train the children.....

Oh so you are from St Louis so you know the weather I speak of.

I usually do it the day after Thanksgiving. We put it up yesterday! My 3 year old begged me to do it, he is seriously a Christmas fanatic even at 3! I don't like it though, and I don't plan on doing it this early ever again. It just doesn't feel right at all! Oh well.

We usually do it the weekend before Thanksgiving, but we've had a rough time lately.

My father-in-law passed away two weeks ago, and the same week our beloved dog of 18 years died. We're all so tired of crying, and we love the holiday season, so we put up our tree a few days ago. The whole house is decorated (we actually have 4 trees)! Christmas music is playing all the time, and we have managed to lighten our mood. My husband, children and I all needed that. We will remember those we have lost this season, but will appreciate even more those we have. I really love this time of year.

Mine are up.

thank you to my hubby.

I was sick about a week ago. In bed sleeping off pain medicine I had taken to relieve the pain from and Ulcer.

I woke up Sunday evening to Two fully decorated Christmas trees. When I asked him why he had put them up the first week of novemeber, he gave me a pretty legit answer of,''I was cleaning out the garage and figured we would have to just pull them down again in two weeks, So I said why bother waiting??''

Love him for his logic.

He took the day off yesterday, to just hang out. He was out until after Ten p.m. putting lights up on the house and trees.

I think we are just excited to be together as a family this year. This has been a not so banner making year for us. So the Holidays are just something we are excited to have :)

It will ALL be coming down on Dec. 26th. AS Soon as we get up.

Usually, my husband puts up the platform, the tree and the trains the day after Thanksgiving. Then we can decorate it some day/evening when we have time.

I say go for it and put it up! Why not? believe me, I myself am tempted to put it up too!!! But we usually put it up the day after Thanksgiving or depending on the energy I have left over from all of the running around cooking and cleaning and trying to get things ready that day, I have put it up Thanksgiving night....It's the best feeling in the world especially for the kid's! I look at it as building memories!
P.s. I thought I was the only one jamming to some Christmas tunes early! Lol! Love it! Have a wonderful Holiday season!

I love that you asked this b/c I wanted to ask it too... I am one who can not wait to put up my tree!! I was going to try to "be good" and wait until after Thanksgiving, but I think I might crack and put it up this weekend. I'm like you, I've already busted out the music! The Christmas commercials are killing me.. I see them and think, hey!! I want my tree up!!! Glad to hear I'm not the only one who can't wait!!!

Just the other day my friend said about me, "The minute the turkey hits the table her tree is up"

Merry Christmas!

We celebrate Thanksgiving thoroughly. :) Even if we're not doing anything too crazy (this year will be just us 4....the morning at the beach, then watching the Cowboys game and playing games while dinner finishes up, then a nice dinner, a walk or touch football with the boys, talking and planning for Christmas. I go to bed early (like same time as my 2 and 5 year old) so I can get up super early for Black Friday sales. Husband will watch the boys, and they'll get all the decorations and "stuff" out and start working on the lights for the house while I'm gone. I'm always home by lunch, then we all have a nap, and after naptime we pop in the first Christmas movie of the season, get some holiday spiced drinks going, and husband puts the tree up while the boys and I decorate cookies and pop them in the oven. We have cookies, spiced drinks, and decorate the tree together in the evening. It's just when we do it! Very simple, but that's our tradition....and the anticipation of finally getting to do it is part of the fun.

After Thanksgiving. I understand the urge to bring on all things festive, holly and jolly. But I believe we should allow ourselves time to rev up the excitement until the time is here. It teaches us to wait for good things and teaches our kids also. Hold off another little bit and then go all out!! It is like waiting for Christmas morning. We could let them open gifts all month long because we can't wait to see their excitement..or just wait in anticipation for the Big Day!! I say...there is magic and joy in a little bit of waiting..

Just my two cents. No harm in decking the halls early...but I say enjoy each season as it comes instead of chomping at the bit for what is next.

Good luck and best wishes!!

We do it two weeks before christmas. With three kids, a dog and cat I try to have it up to enjoy but not too long to get on my nerves with them playing with it and trying to knock it down!

Maybe when they get older we will do it earlier in the month.

Varies depending on our schedules. This year I'll be home a half of a day before Thanksgiving with the kiddo's alone, so I'm going to ask hubby to put it up that Tuesday night. He isn't big into decorating, so the kids and I will do it when I get home, along with make the casseroles for Thanksgiving and make our turkey hand cookies :).

At least that's my plan!

We always do it the Day after Thanksgiving and keep it up until January 1st. We do a lot of holiday entertaining and I have a lot of hosting obligations, so it makes it easy for me and ensures that my halls will be properly decked when company stops by.

Usually a week or so after Thanksgiving. I'd like to get it up sooner but am still recovering from an all day cooking marathon.

This year we are going away (yay, no cooking - no mess) and so I hope to get it up on the Sunday after Thanksgiving since we are coming home late Saturday!

Now if I can just get my shopping done.

Jennifer S - go to a live tree stand and look for discount trees - find one for like $10 and cut the top off (so you have 1/2 a tree) and put it on a table where your LO can't get to it.

Usually the first or second weekend of December ( depends on the weekend if the boys are with me or thier dad). We all do it together.

I have bought all of the kids orniments each year from when they were born and they enjoy putting on thier orniments and we talk about memories from those years. The little ones will start to help but then they become more interested in watching us while they eat a candy cane :)

I do it after Thanksgiving. I like Thanksgiving a lot, and I want it to have its own special importance - not just football day and the day before shopping.

I have mixed feelings about putting up the tree early (after Thanksgiving), but I do it. I don't want the Christmas feeling to become ho-hum before Christmas Day arrives. So I like to take my time getting the tree, getting out the decorations, putting things up. I like to have it done before it's time to start baking, but I don't want to do it in a hurry if I can help it.

And Christmas music is one of the best parts of the whole process. ;^)

We do it the weekend just prior to Christmas. To me, the season does not start til December, and I don't want the tree for weeks beforehand, looking stale by Christmas and not special anymore. We typically leave it up for a week after new years, so it's still here to help with the immediate post holiday blahs. Christmas music before December and decorations before my favorite holiday, Thanksgiving, annoys me. When did Christmas start happening on November 1st? A two month holiday is just too much. By the time it comes, I'm sick of it.

Thinking of putting outside lights up this coming weekend and the tree up the Saturday after T-day. :)

Can't quite listen to Christmas music yet. The leaves are stripped off (thanks tornado winds), but the grass is still green. Maybe after a few frosts and browning grass. :)

Only once every few years. It's tough in my house to find space. This year I bought a larger tv and it's filling the space I had the tree last year. I won't be able to put it up unless I put a computer in a closet for a few weeks. I think I'm skipping it this year.

Because we have 3 out of 5 birthdays in our immediate family this time of year and we get extremely busy with all of our activities we wait to put the tree up until super late. There are times we don't get one up until Christmas Eve and then it's just the small 2-3ft and we skip the 7ft that year. There have been years we just put out a stuffed one I sewed years ago out of velvet. Things are quick to come down too.
So funny because I remember one of our first Christmases my husband and I left our tree up until February because we didn't want to take it down. We have artificial trees due to allergies so we can do that ;)
How things change with kids and cats LOL
