So, this morning I made the mistake of wondering aloud what this whole "Angry Birds" thing was and my husband showed me that it is on the iPod that my son gave me...oh, GRRRRAWR!!! Those nasty little GRINNING GREEN PIGS!!!! I have wasted the whole day and only quit because my battery went dead! I haven't gotten so involved in a game since my ex-husband and I got our first credit card 20 years ago and promptly went out and bought Tetris for our Nintendo!
So, my question? Any of you out there video game addicts? Which games do you play? And are any of you guilty of wasting a perfectly good day doing nothing but playing them?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

***Thanks for all of your responses! I'm glad I'm not the only one. I woke up this morning with a sense of satisfaction...in my dreams, my birds were "Angrier", but more accurate. I was wiping that smug look of those green pigs' faces like a pro! LOL
And Riley J, thank you for the links...very interesting. I guess I need to quit worrying about my son's incessant game play!
Have a nice day

I love to play Call of Duty with my hubby on the XBOX. I think I missed my calling as a sniper! :)

I don't play Angry Birds, but my hubby, daughter and my dad fight over my Ipod to play it when we are all together! What's funny is sometimes my dad has to ask my 6 year old to help him thru a level! Too funny!

I grew up playing video games. My husband used to work in the game industry before he was laid off and many of his friends and colleagues still do. We used to play world of Warcraft until monetary constraints ended that. He's working again but not in the game industry, though he's trying very hard to get back in. We are currently eagerly awaiting the release of Diablo 3, The Old Republic and Guild Wars 2. Very much PC gamers though we have all the consoles and handhelds due to his prior jobs.

We have three game "date" nights a week that start the moment our daughter is in bed at 8:30 and lasts until 11:30. The couple who plays together, stays together!

S.H. - My husband worked on the Lego game! The title was LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga for all platforms. Our daughter loves it too!

Also, if you loved the game Portal, you need to check out this link. This is what would happen if the iPhone's new voice thing was powered by the crazy computer from the game.

I have about 8 words with friends going with my mom and SIL. We J. make our play when we have a few minutes to sit and check out the board.

It is like scrabble, a lot of fun, yes, I spend too much time on it, but it helps keep your brain sharp and we like the competitiveness of it as well.

I don't do this as much now but we have a city set up on Animal crossing for the Wii and we go play that occasionally. We all 3 have little houses and we work to keep up the town. Silly game, great for little kids learing to work and pay off debt but easy to get hooked on.

Used to be a gamer when my boys were little, played with them---Mortal Combat, Mario Bros, Zelda.... Now, not so much. If I do play anything it's something more like Knoword.com (thats addictive and I can spend a few hours) or Scrabble on my Kindle. I dont have time for games really. I have played Angry Birds, but once I got to a spot I couldnt seem to get past after trying a few times I said scr*w it... it's a cute game tho. My time is more spent on this site, and then J. chatting with my family on IM or reading FB junk...... then it's husband time.
I was totally hooked on an online game called Acrophobia back in the 90's and the early 00's. LOVED that game.... now it's gone for some reason, but there are some wannabe's out there like it, J. not near as good as the original. You could play an adult version of it, Husband and I would on occasion, it was so hilarious but got pretty raunchy.

Sorry to say I got hooked on Angry Birds too. Yes, I have wasted lots of
time playing. I had to get some control so I play only after I get things done
in the house. I also play before I go to sleep. My husband laughs because
there have been times when I fall asleep playing. I have played some others
but there is nothing like those birds. I dream green pigs LOL.

I've been playing video games for most of my life...about 25 years of solid gameplay now. Though I prefer Zelda and Mario (have played through every single one of each of those, from the beginning), I also like DragonBallZ games, Tony Hawk, Soul Caliber, Sims, SimCity, and tons of other games. I am also guilty of computer games and have really enjoyed, in the past, the old school King's Quest games.

And to tell you how big of a nerd I am...I have a program installed on my old laptop that allows M. to play EVERY NES game EVER created, no internet required, including a bunch of black market offshoots (like, Mario collects needles instead of coins, etc) and I LOVE it. I've had it for over ten years.

A few really old fun ones from NES...besides Mario and Zelda...Excitebike, Gyromite, Snoopy's Olympics (??), Mickey Mousecapades, and Goonies II.

I also freak out on video games music and Koji Kondo is my absolute favorite composer, despite being a classically trained musician.
