Jff--to Wear Undies or Not to Wear Undies (Prompted by Earlier Bra Question)

I grew up wearing undies under my jammies to bed. I don't know how the conversation arose but some time in my early 20s my mom was like "you do?!?!". I tried skipping the undies at night and have been undie-less (at night) since. How about all if you?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks for answering everyone, it's been fun reading all if your responses! I've been undie-less at night for over 15 years and can't imagine going back to the way I grew up. But I gotta wear jammies....hate my boobs touching my arms!! So at least a tank top is needed. And I'm neurotic about smooth legs...it can be 100 degrees out and unless I shaved that day I gotta wear long pants! It's funny how different we all are. Again...thanks for sharing!

No, I don't wear underwear to bed. I only wear PJs if it's cold, which it is part of the year here in MN. I like to feel comfy and naked is best! I take a shower before bed, or reasonably close to bedtime each night, so my sheets are not unclean...

No undies if I have jammies with pants on. If I am only wearing a tee shirt to bed, I wear undies. If I have "plans" I don't wear jammies or undies ;)

I wear underwear at night and in bed because it's my preference that we all keep our juicy bits covered up to keep the sheets as clean as possible since they only get washed once a week, sometimes every two weeks if things are hectic that month...

We change our underwear every day (at least I hope we all do!) because we know that they rub against your privates and attain an odor that I like to describe as "hey you've been sitting in me and now I smell like crotch". Turning your bed sheets into your underpants for 8 hours a night 7 nights a week will create what I like to call "funk sheets". It's the same reason I wear underpants under... pants. Because I don't want my pants that I don't launder every single day to smell like crotch.

Washing a load of panties is a lot easier than washing a pair of pants every day. Also, it keeps the pants newer longer. Every time you wash them, they lose a bit of themselves. Underpants are cheaper to replace than jeans.

For me, keeping underpants on has nothing whatsoever to do with prudishness but everything to do with cleanliness.

Just the idea of wearing undies to bed sounds horrible.

Now the four year old does the same. He loves to go commando as often as possible. To think that kid was wearing a DIAPER a year ago!

My mother was always one to say "Never leave your undies on at night" you have to "pardon the expression" air yourself out. Needless to say I never did wear them and to this day I dont'. I have taught my daughter the same and she is now 33. She has taught my grandaughter the same.
I think now if I wore them to bed I would be very uncomfortable to say the least. I think my mom was right in saying what she did, the elastic in the underwear do stop circulation with no room for air. Just like I cant' wear a bra to bed either. I have to feel comfortable.

It depends---if I sleep with socks on, I usually wear uw. If I don't wear socks, then I normally wear a tank top and nothing else. I know its weird, but it works for me!

I don't even wear them in the daytime unless:

- I'm wearing shorts or a dress
- Buying clothes (for trying things on)
- I'm planning on having sex in the near future / to have something sexy on to take off

My sheets are NOT "funky" and I've slept naked for a long time (not while nursing/cosleeping, though, and I will wear just undies when Aunt Flo visits...so that's what? Three nights a month?).

How juicy do ones bits get at night? Mine don't, unless dh...well...then we just change the sheets in the morning.

lol @ TF, I also have to have a foot or two sticking out :)

I sleep naked, personally. It's much more comfortable. I don't have my children wear underwear under their pajamas, though...my mom taught me that you should go without to let everything "breathe." Maybe too much information, but that's the reasoning behind it. :)

So I can't help but giggle at this because recently my almost 9 year old "witnessed" me taking off my underwear before bed and she asked why I was taking them off just to put them back on, I was going "potty" ha ha so I said to her that I don't wear undies to bed, that I don't find it comfy and the look of what I would call horror/shock was pretty priceless...she then went on to say does Todd (her stepdad) know this and I said yeah, I think so, and she then said, I don't think so, if he didn't, he wouldn't want to sleep in the same bed w/ you ha ha...got to love the innocence...and yes, we fully know we've got to have some form of the "talk" w/ her sooner rather than later to inform her that it's ok that Todd would know I don't sleep w/ undies on ;)

Nope. I sleep totally naked. I LOVE a light cover and for some reason, I have to have 1 foot sticking out of covers. I know, I am weird...

In the heat, I still sleep naked but my hubby is one to keep the temps year round where I am freezing my butt off. Even at 100+ TX temps.

I just keep a robe nearby just in case of emergency!!

I wear a sports-type bra, underwear, pajamas, and, on cold, socks. We sleep with the door open, so no naked sleeping. I thought I'd been sleeping with underwear all my life, but I discovered I hadn't when I was young. I found out when visiting my parents and my mother was asking why my sons kept their underwear on while putting on their pajamas.

I find it more comfortable. I don't like skin touching skin, especially if the weather is humid. I wear the bra because when I was a preteen my mother's friend advised my sister and me to wear one to bed for support so the tissues wouldn't get stretched out. The bra I wear doesn't have a lot of support, but it's more than nothing. Plus it provides modesty around family while I wear my pajamas.

Too Funny! I asked the bra question... who new there were so many different ways of doing things. I never gave it a second thought until now! I have almost always worn my undies to bed. In the summer I wear undies and a tank top and in the colder months I wear undies and Pj"s! I'm thinking I would have to wash a lot of jammies if I didn't wear undies.

Yes I do. Used to sleep with nothing on, until children came along. But I grew up wearing it.

What I don't get is... how are things "breathing" if you still have pajama bottoms AND blankets on?! Haha.
