my son loves elmo's world. He watches it everyday. we even have it on dvd so he can watch it on weekednd. it allows me to have time to enjoy my breakfast or take a shower. anyway the other day I found my elmo live doll (yes my doll, my hubby bought it for me for our first christmas. i think elmo is adorable go ahead judge me lol) I put new batteries in it and took it to my son's room (he is 18mnths) where he was playing. I pressed one of the buttons and started it talking and he seriously thought this was the real deal. he thought elmo had come to visit him. he ran around the room grabbing his favorite toys and showing them to elmo (just like he does when his grandma comes over.) when elmo would talk he would nod and say yeah. he kept babbling as he showed him his toys. it was the cutest thing in the world that he thought elmo had visited him. I love when they do things like this. childhood inoscene you know lol. anyone else have any similar stories

The other day my 3 yr old daughter broke one of her toys. She came and told me that she was super sorry and didn't know how it got broke because she was playing nice with it. Then she preceded to tell me that it was ok because her 5 yr old brother had gotten (play) tools for christmas and he would fix it for her so I didn't need to be upset. I was laughing so hard there was no way I could punish her.

I used to babysit two boys ages 9 & 7 as well as having my own boys 7, 5 and 3yo girl. We had a puppy and my son found one of the puppies teeth that had fallen out. The boys said, hey, put it under your pillow and see if the tooth fairy gives you anything! I laughed and told them the tooth fairy doesn't take puppy teeth. Well, sneakily, I went out and bought a dog bone and that night put it under my son's pillow, taking the tooth. The next morning when the daycare boys arrived they all looked under my sons pillow. It was hysterical! Now the 9 yo was at the age where he immediately suspected me but I turned it back on him and asked him if he was playing a joke on us! His big blue eyes got even bigger! It was one of the most enjoyable moments in my life seeing the amazement and innocence of these boys! The older one I babysat is now 20 and entering the marines, we still love reliving that day!

My 2yo daughter loves her collection of puppets. She will take one or 2 of them (sometimes 3, but then the logistics get difficult...) over to me and exclaim, "Talk to puppets!" At this point, I am contractually required as a mother to portray different puppet voices for each of the puppets she has given to me. She will talk back to the puppets, bring them toys, cook them plastic meals, describe what foods she thinks they would like (carrots for a bunny puppet and bananas for a monkey) and hug my hands with more ferocity than she's ever given us, the real live parents!
At the end of a long work day, it gets exhausting to do these constant on-demand puppet shows, but I know that one day, she'll be 14 years old and I'll miss them!

When my daughter was about 2 1/2 she was really big into Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. We were in the car one day and she loved to identify all of the different types of vehicles she saw. We saw a minivan and she asked me if I liked them and I said "sure, minivans are nice." I asked her if she liked minivans and she replied "I like Daisy vans." It took me a minute to figure out that she thought minivans were actually Minnie (Mouse) vans.

My twin girls love to 'make' things in their play kitchen. Of course Mommy is the taste tester. Sometimes the pot, bowl, cup or whatever has plastic food in it sometimes it is imaginary.
My favorite though is last Christmas. We were putting up the tree and my husband wanted to add some colored lights before we decorated. (It is a pre-lit tree but has clear lights). It took a couple of days for him to get to it and in the time we were waiting the girls picked up any container such as a sand bucket and a dowel stick or bubble wand and pretended to paint the tree. One day it was painted blue with pink etc. the next it was purple and green etc. It was so cute to see them "painting" the tree!

When my son was 5 he came home from Sunday school and said "Mom did you know that God was looking at us from heaven and he lives there?" I said I did. He then said, "well I figured out how he must live up there, he lives in a space shuttle, I mean mom can you imagine God just floating around up their will no place to sit and watch a cartoon?" They are so cute at this age. Write it or record it all for posterity. In 10 yrs when my son graduates HS it's gonna be part of his gift!

We do the whole "Santa" thing in our house... I know that this was a hot topic on this site before Christmas, but I believe that kids have their whole lives to be serious.

Well, my little guy was 2.5 this year at Christmas, so he kind of "got it" and was really into Santa. We even had my dad call a few times as Santa to "check in". About a month ago, my husband was talking to his brother about something that he needed, but couldn't find at the store and our son walked up to him and said "Don't worry Daddy. Ask Santa Pause for it- he brings everything!"

That's adorable!
And isn't it fun just to "mess" with them a little? lol

My son lost his Pap Pap at nearly 3, and we went to great lengths explaining how Pap now lives in heaven and that's what happens after your life on Earth is over....yadda...yadda....

About a year later he asked me what the next level is after Heaven! (Yes--he loves Super Mario!)

LOL, funny.
Our daughters first word was car.
Driving on the freeway, on the road, where ever...we expect we are going to see cars....but ever had all of them pointed out to you?
We get in the car, strap her in, buckle up and take off. A few minutes into driving.....
CAR! Car. CAR CAR CAR!....Car? Caaarrrrrrrr (laughing), CAR! Car Car Car.
She seriously believes I don't see them, and has to point every single car out..good thing is it lasts only about 5 minutes because she realizes there's tons of cars on the road. LOL.

When my kids were little and we were eating dinner, the sun light reflected off my knife and made a light on the ceiling. My daughter saw it and asked what is was. I said it's the "light fairy" and she's here to make sure you eat all your dinner. I kept playing with the knife and made the "light fairy" dance around the kitchen. Today she's 11 and knows that the light fairy isn't true, but her 6 year old brother still believes and will gobble his dinner to make the fairy happy. I love a good sunny day! :)
