Jeuvenile Reumatoid Arthritus
my 4 year old daughter was diagnosed with JRA over thanksgiving. She is doing much better, we have a specialist in arizona working with her. also a naturalpath doctor who specelizes in auto ammune diseases working with her. She has her on lots of anti inflamitory natural powders(ultra inflam.msm, vitamine d ,omega 3,spirulina)she has been a trooper about gaging all this down.mixed in yogurt since she cant swallow pills yet. We also have a chinease accupunctureist who thought her thyroid was down so she is on natural thyroid pills too.The western doctors want to bandaid the problem with napertine(a majour asprine) and steroid shots to the knee. Only one knee is affected at this point and we are trying to avoid the steroid by doing alternative routs.. of course we have also changed her diet to low gluten, and sugar.Has anyone else dealt with this and have any advice for us...thanks
So What Happened?™
thanks everyone for all your responses.I got alot of great information from you all and hope all your situations get better as well as ours..cheers to a healthy new year..J.

J.,
I was forwarded your email and I thought I would respond because I was diagnosed with RA when I was about 12 and I am now 24. I have ventured through the many alternatives medicines and have experience taking many of the traditional medications. I really just wanted to let you know that it is worth trying all that you can alternatively, but don't become to discouraged if some of the things that you try aren't successful. I feel that the best advice that I can offer you is that everyone's body is different and everyone's RA responds differently to different treatments. However, it is extremely important to keep the RA and inflammation under control. RA can be very damaging and can react very quickly. I would be more than happy to share with you my experiences and life with RA in more detail if you would like. Just send me some questions about what you are interested in. Feel free to email me at ____@____.com

Hello J.!
I am so sorry about your daughter. It sounds like you all are brave and working hard on her health.
It is because I saw what happened with a friend of mine (Renee), that I found out about a company and product line called Reliv. I was interested in it because my aunt has MS, and had asked me to be on the lookout for her. (I am from Holland, that's where my aunt lives).
A long story short: I've been using the products since August 03, they are life changing. They have general health products, as well as functional formulas, and a super product for joint issues (Arthaffect).
Please don't hesitate to call me: ###-###-####. I would love for you to listen to my friend Renee, you'll get answers to all the questions you might have.
Kindly,
I.

Where do you live at? My son was diagnosed with JRA in 2003 when he was 4. I tried the different approaches and found that they didn't work and things got worse. Make sure that you are having her eyes checked every 3-6 months. If the inflammation gets out of control then it is almost impossible to get back under control. We had to go a heavy duty route just to get my sons vision back. If you are in NV then I can give you the name of my sons doctor. We were in AZ and couldn't find a good doctor there. If you want to contact me my e-mail address is ____@____.com
Good luck,

Hi,
I am sure you are laready aware of this with such medical support, but I would definitely look at all food allergies. Very often automimmune responses are triggered by food allegies causing inflammation in the body. This inflammation then leads to systemic inflammation thrughout the body, often starting with issues such as joint pains or eczema. I would do, although hard with a child and an adult for that matter, an elimination diet. Start by eliminating foods such as dairy, then after 6 weeks reintroduce it and see if the symptoms are made worse. You can try this with all of the common allergens. I know you said low gluten diet, but is she avoiding all gluten or still having some. If she is having a gluten allergy, any amount will keep the inflammation triggered.
Good luck and I hope you find the answer soon.

Since you are open to alternative treatments, you may want to look into something called NAET. Go to www.NAET.com to find out more. It's a technique usually performed by chiropractors - I know that sounds odd - but it can't hurt, and if it helps, all the better! I was treated for hypoglycemia and it worked. I also know someone whose daughter was treated for celiac disease, and she was cured of it.
Good Luck!

Hi J.--
I didn't read all the responses so sorry if I repeat something. We have a doctor that has a diagnostic tool called electral dermal screening (EDS). It uses the acupuncture points on the hands and feet to determine the health of each organ, system, etc. In essence it is a diagnostic tool that takes human error out of the picture (I'm guessing your natural doctors use muscle testing??). Basically, the computer is calibrated so that when a system is balanced it registers between 40 and 60. Anything below 40 is underfunctioning (not working hard enough), and anything above 60 is over-functioning (working too hard.) Once you get a baseline there is a plate connected to the machine that you can put your supplement on. The machine measures the energy of the supplement with the energy of the person being tested and will tell you if that particular supplement balances the system or not. That way you are giving the body exactly what it needs rather then guessing at it. It takes the guesswork totally out of the picture. My son had severe food allergies as a baby and this machine made it so we could test him without poking, prodding, or taking blood. Frankly, I don't know why every doctor doesn't have one. I think it could prove very helpful for your daughter because you would know exactly what system was out of balance and what she needed to re-balance it. If you are interested send me a personal email and I'll give you the doctor's number.
Good luck!
J.
