Hi, just wondering if people have had success with the Jenny Craig program? I'm looking for a program that provides the food. If there is a better program out there, let me know. I'm open to other suggestions. Something convenient (where they send you the food) is a plus.

Thanks!

When I was in college, I worked at Jenny Craig.
It was a nice place to work and the clients were pleased with their service and results.
Many of the clients, were also there because their Physician referred them to us, to lose weight for a variety of health reasons.
Jenny Craig, has/had many different types of "menus" as well as various vegetarian and breastfeeding and low-sodium menus. And the food, is good. I liked it as well as the clients.

The program, at that time, consisted of the client coming in once a week, and weighing in and also sitting down with the weight loss Consultant to talk about their problems. Each person having different weight issues etc.
And the Clients were also taught how to cook, how to shop, etc.
This is how it was, at the center I, worked at.

I don't know how it is now, currently.
But they do have an online site, and perhaps online servicing, foods etc.

As I said, I used to work there and the program worked for many.
We had just regular folks as well as well known/famous people as clients, at the center I worked at.
How and if it works, also of course, depends on IF the client... does what they are supposed to do or not. If you don't or can't follow a program, it will not work. No matter what that program is. AND, even once you lose weight, you NEED TO, maintain a healthy lifestyle. Afterwards.
Some people DO continue healthy eating and exercise, but some do not... therefore, after they lose the weight, they gain it back because they go back to their previous bad habits and eating.

No program is a miracle.
It takes, MAINTAINING it and actually wanting to, and keeping to eating healthily and exercising.

Jenny Craig, when I worked there, always taught the clients, that this is a lifestyle, change. Meaning, learning to eat healthily and exercising. Daily. So we educated the clients about that.

I would suggest seeing a nutrisionist before going to a program like this that offers packaged foods my first thought is they will be loaded with sodium. My chriopractor told me to eat all the fruits and veggies I want in a day and that is so hard to do,the food pyramid requirements went up need to relook at it.But they offer a nutrition service that I don't need a referral from my primary health care Dr.I so plan to do this as soon as it's possible for me to it costs a copay and you have 1on1 with the certified nutrisionist all I do is fill out a form that asks 3 or so pages of loaded questions as long as I answer them honestly i'll see what direction to take in caring for myself with foods also it will benefit my family to eat more of this less of that which is common sense not to just eat certain things all the time but i moderation.I'm just throwing this out there for you and others maybe they'll be curious to see if anyone offers it in their area.
Oh ya forot to mention that as long as your on this program or others you'll lose weight but once you get off you'll gain it right back and you'll wonder why just saying what my friend told me she worked at a Jenny Craig for many years thats all she tolde about it never anted to know more so didn't ask

Jenny Craig is ridiculously expensive first off. It will run about 600 a month not including what extras you buy. And like the other poster said once you stop you gain it back. I lost 45 pounds doing it and yes gained just about every pound back.

I personally have had great success with Jenny Craig. It is expensive, but if you can afford it I would suggest doing it. The last time i did Jenny Craig I lost 54 pounds in 7 months and it was actually easy. I would do it again if I could afford it right now.

My challenge has always been not getting the weight off, but keeping it off and not getting cocky about being thin again and remembering what it took to get there.

Good luck coz it is so worth it once you lose it!!

My husband has done it twice. It works in the sense that if you follow the plan, you can lose the desired weight. The difficulty, as mentioned, is keeping it off. If you don't change your eating habits or have trouble controlling your will power, then keeping it off will be difficult.

The weight is lost by reducing your calorie intake and then gradually weaning you back up to a maintenance calorie intake, but by the time you are completely off their food/plan, you need to find a way to make your own meals that will keep you in line with your maintenance calorie intake.

So for my husband what typically happens is he goes back to buying/eating the cookies and ice cream and other junk food that he has no will power over. And I'm not a big ice cream eater and I'm picky about what cookies I eat, so I'm not the one bringing that stuff into the house.

So it can work, but by the time you are ready to come off the Jenny Craig foods and plan, you need to have your own meal plan in place that you can stick with to keep the weight off.
