Jenny Craig/Digestive Issues
I was wondering if anyone out there who has been on Jenny Craig has developed any digestive issues. Sorry to be graphic, but both of my sister-in-laws have developed bloody/mucus/loose bowels. They both have been on Jenny Craig for some time. They are not blood related to each other and they live in different states. They only similarity I am noticing is that they were both on Jenny Craig. I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced anything like this.

I also did JC and I was not feeling so well at the begining. I did get a little better. but i left with a DR. note because they were going to give me the last 9 months on the program back. Good luck

J.,
I worked as a weight loss cosultant and had several clients with similar issues. Jenny Craig is high in soy which can cause stomach/bowel issues in some people as they may be more sensitive to soy. I would speak with your Jenny Craig consultant or the Program Manager and ask that they review your health sheet and contact the nutrition department. Also a quick call to your PCP.
You also might want to test to see if it is the Jenny Craig food by going off the food for 2 days to see if the issues corrects itself and if it does you know that it is the food.
Hope that helps.

I don't have personal experience with Jenny Craig, but I would like to just share my opinion, perhaps it can point your friends in the right direction. I consider this common sense, I wonder how additives, artificial ingredients, added sugars, hydrogenated oils, and high fructose corn syrup (all of the above abundantly present in JC meals), can be part of any diet plan, and how do they call it "healthy"? These types of ingredients will wreak havoc on anyone's body, moreover someone who was unhealthy to begin with. A diet is about learning to eat right yourself, not relying on processed and artificial packaged foods to make it easy. Sure it takes some work, but the body will thank you when you feed it real food and normal portions (take a look at how an average European person eats, they barely have any obese people there). Just sticking to raw fruits and vegetables, some protein (eggs, chicken, beans), and whole grains, should do the trick with any weight problems; people are just too lazy. I don't know exactly what is wrong with the health of your sisters-in-law (although I am not surprised after researching Jenny Craig ingredients), but I recommend some body cleansing regimens, like spending a whole day eating only whole grain real bread with lots of lemon water (1 part lemon freshly squeezed, 4 parts clean drinking water). Also apple cider vinegar does wonders cleansing the body and restoring it(1 tablespoon vinegar, glass of water).
I don't know if this is much help, but that is my 2 cents :)

Hi,
A diet should not produce bloody stools. No matter what the diet is. Are they taking Ali (diet pills) as well. I took Ali and had loose stools but no blood. Are they taking any dietary supplements that you know of? Have they had any travel recently overseas or have had food poisoning? You should always follow up with you doctor for any GI bleeding. please encourage them to do this.

Hi J.,
Does ulcerative colitis run in your family? If so...diet definately has something to do with it...despite what many say. Call or email me if you have any questions.

This is going to be a bit graphic right back...bowels get mucusy the longer they sit in your intestines. It's a good thing they are coming out...let them keep coming. The quicker you rid your body of this waste the faster you will be able to lose weight and curb your appetite. I'd watch the blood though...a lot is a sign for concern.
Good luck!

Yes, the food from Jenny Craig made my friend ill for four months. She saw her doctor because she thought maybe she had IBS. When she stopped eating the food, her issue resolved.
