So I was asked to bring jello for thanksgiving dinner. I know I was asked to bring it because our money is tight. But I'd really like to bring something nice. Anyone have a really good jello salad recipe they'll share with me?

Although I really like the pretzel salad, I think I like this one better! It is DELICIOUS! (I'm not a fan of the set up jello with fruit in it...not the best to me!)

Ambrosia Jello Salad
3 oz Cook n Serve pudding, vanilla flavor
3 oz Jello, any flavor
3 oz. Tapioca pudding
1-2 cups fruit, same as jello flavor (I usually buy frozen and let it thaw out before adding it)
8 oz Cool Whip

Cook 3 cups cold water, pudding, jello, and tapioca in saucepan and bring to boil. Cook on low for 1-2 minutes. Put in refrigerator to cool. Add fruit and cool whip.

I usually make this the night before and then add the fruit and cool whip before serving! It is super easy and delicious!

I make this cranberry jello mold every year for Thanksgiving and always get rave reviews. It's also really easy to make!

- 2 small packages of red jello (I get 2 different flavors, or you could get one large package.)
- Follow the directions on the package for making the jello when you are going to add fruit. I think you have to use less water or the water needs to be a different temp. (I can't remember, but it's always on the jello package.)
- Add 2 cans of whole berry cranberry sauce.
- Let it thicken in the fride for a little while (also on the package.)
- Add a small can of crushed pineapple. (Make sure you get as much liquid as possible out of the pineapple, as the liquid makes the jello not set properly.)
- Add a small apple, peeled and grated.
- Pour into a jello mold and set in fridge overnight.
- To loosen the jello from the mold without it breaking, rub the sides with a warm cloth.

2 small packages strawberry jello
2 small can crushed pineapple - NOT drained
1 (15ish ounce) package sliced, frozen strawberries
1 cup walnut pieces
16 ounces sour cream
3 bananas sliced (I smash mine)

Mix both packages of Jello with 1 cup boiling water, stirring until dissolved. Add strawberries, pineapple, nuts and bananas. Mix well.

Pour 1/2 jello mix into 9x13 pan and put in fridge until set (about 20 minutes). Spread sour cream over jello and cover with remaining jello mixture. Let set.

I know it sounds kind of odd with the sour cream, but it's really good. I have people who hate sour cream who eat this like it's going out of style.

If you think you're interested in this but have questions, just send me a message and I'll help you.

I also have a cranberry salad recipe. It's not jello, but it is AMAZING! I say this, and you need to understand I HATE cranberries! But I could eat this stuff until I bust! Let me know if you need anything else....I love to help and sharing recipies is so much fun!

The pretzel salad recipe from the poster previous really is wonderful - it is a family favorite for us as well...we do it with strawberries or raspberries.

Another one that my family loves is super simple - Mix up a box of orange jello but instead of adding cold water, add cold orange juice. Then just let it set up...you can put it in a bowl to scoop from or my mom sometimes put it in a jello mold to make it fancy.

Here are several ideas.
Rasberry jello, with fresh raspberries. This can be molded in a bundt cake pan and then cool whip put in the center once it is out of the cake pan.

This is an Orange Jello (more like a dessert)
1 sm pkg Vanilla pudding (cook)
1 sm pkg tapioca pudding (cook)
1 sm pkg orange geletin
3 C Water
1 sm can pineapple tidbits drained
1 sm can mandarin oranges drained
1-2 C mini marshmallows
8 oz Cool whip or whip cream.

Mix pudding mixes, jello and water together. cook until bubbly, stirring constantly. Cool completely. Mix in fruit & marshmallows. mix in cool whip. Blend well and chill.

You can go on www.kraftfoods.com and type in Jello in the recipe section.

I make a blueberry one. It was always one of my favorites growing up and I still love it.

3 small package or 2 large black cherry jello
1 can blueberries
1 container cool whip

Put the jello in a bowl and add two cups of boiling water to dissolve, then add the juice from the blueberries plus cold water to equal 1 1/2 to 2 cups

mix well and pour into whatever container you want it to set in if it is not already there. Add the blueberries and stir in

take out about 3/4 cup of the jello before it can harder and place both in the fridge. Usually about 30-40 minutes

When the separate jello is egg white consistency or a little thicker mix with cool whip

Spread the cool whip mixture on top of the jello with the blueberries and put back in the fridge until completely set. It takes a couple of hours.

Once set you can either eat as it or if you used a mold flip over and dump out. You can add other fruit too if you want.

we call it pink stuff...it sounds strange but we love it.
Lg box Strawberry jello prepared to a soft set ( needs to still be a little runny) add in:
1 can of crushed pineapple drained well
1 tub of whip topping
1 container of small curd cottage cheese

I know...it does not sound appetizing but we love it...beg for it, we have this at Thanksgiving, Christmas and even at Easter.

Hi
This may not sound great but it is! And it's pretty.

Cranberry Jello Salad:

1 lg package red jello (I use raspberry or cranberry)
2 c boiling water
2 c ice
1 16 oz can cranberry jelly/sauce
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 c sugar
1 c peeled & grated apple

Dissolve jello in hot water & cool with ice. Remove any unmelted ice and chill until partially set. Add cranberry jelly, sugar & salt and beat with mixer until smooth. Stir in grated apples. Pour into 9x13 pan and chill until set.
To serve: Place a green leaf lettuce leaf on each saucer, then a square of jello and top with whipped cream.

Other options: you can add chopped walnuts &/or crushed pineapple along with or instead of the grated apples.

We go to Tremonton every year to pick tomatoes to bottle. My mom works for an orthodontist there. I'm from Mantua...small world! Have a great Thanksgiving and if you use this recipe I know your family will love it. It's looks and tastes really classy.

I have 2 Jell-o recipes that are nice & festive.

Cranberry Jell-o:

1 lg box Cran-Raspberry Jell-o
1 can crushed pineapple
3 c. boiling water
1 can whole-berry cranberry sauce
1 apple, peeled & grated

Dissolve Jell-o in 3 c. boiling water. Add crushed pineapple with juice. Mash up cranberry sauce, add to Jell-o. Add grated apple. Mix together. Chill.
*you can top with whipped cream, but I hate whipped cream, so I don't. :)

Layered Jell-o:

1 small box each of Lime, Lemon, Orange, Strawberry, Cherry or Black
Cherry, Grape
Sour Cream
Water

Dissolve 1 box Jell-o in 1 c. boiling water. Divide in half. In one half, put 3 tsp cold water. In other half, put 1/3 c. sour cream. Blend well with whisk. Use clear casserole dish (I use my Pyrex) and start with clear color
Jell-o. Chill 30 min. Next do opaque Jell-o of same color. Chill 30 min. Continue same pattern. Chill well (3-4 hours) before serving.

*You can use large boxes, but make sure you use a large Pyrex & double the amount of sour cream & water.

**I have also done this with red & green Jell-o for Christmas; a bunch of different red colors for Valentines day; Green only for St. Patty's; and red, orange, and yellow for fall. Have fun with it!

Good Luck & Have a fabulous Thanksgiving!
