IUD & Pregnancy

Hi S.,

I have the other IUD. I can't remember the name of it, but it's the plastic one. Honestly, I have not had a period in God knows how long & don't miss it at all. =) So, don't be scared if you don't have a period. I was told my periods would be lighter than usual, but they just disappeared altogether after a while. I really don't know anything about getting pregnant w/ an IUD in. To be honest, shortly after, my marriage ended so I really haven't had sex much since then to worry about pregnancy.

My friend got pregnant last year while having an IUD. Unfortunatelly it turned out to be ectopic and had to terminate it. Good luck!

the baby grows around the iud, so it is dangerous and a d&c is NEEDED. take a pregnancy test immediately and if positive, get in touch with you obgyn. i would think that the risks were given to you at time of insertion..

hello S. i had an iud for 3 years with no problem and i did get pregnant with it. i guess i lost some weight and my iud moved. my doc wanted me to take it out which i would probably loose the baby but after talking to a few people we decided to leave it the way it was and what ever happen will happen. all went well , i had a 3rd healthy 8pds8 baby boy naturally and the iud came out after giving birth. i had my tubs cut and burn and best thing i ever did. good luck

I had the same concerns before I got my IUD. My doctor assured me that the chances of getting pregnant with an IUD are very slim and if you happen to get pregnant with the IUD it is only a possibility one of the above may occur. A few of my friends, including myself got one after our first pregnancy, including an OB/GYN herself. If you have concerns maybe try something different, but so far I've been ok as well as my friends.

Hi S., I hope you are OK. I had an IUD for a few years, It is an abortive device. You conceive and abort. I think you should check with your Gynocologist and have it all explained to you. You may want to try another method. I had some very heavy periods and cramps with mine. My best, Grandma Mary
