IUD And Low Sex Drive

Hi I have a mirena iud and have had it for almost 2 years. For the last 6 monthes my sex drive has disappeared and recently I have started becoming very moody and slightly depressed. I was wondering if this has happened to any other moms with mirena. I am in fear that it will ruin my relationship!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

I finally had the iud removed last week. I have noticed that my sex drive is going up slightly and my moods are improving slowly. If anyone is thinking of getting the mirena iud please do research first. Please please read the information on curezone.com. It might you make rethink things.

Hi, Ive had the Mirena for almost three years and I absolutley love it! I havent experience any issues whatsoever. I had the cramping after insertion, but those went away quickly. Maybe you are just sensitive to it, which i know sucks, because it sounds like such an awesome product, and for me it was. I hope you find what you want that works for you. GOOD LUCK!!!

Hello, I had the mirena for 2 years, and did have the same issues. Actually, I am still experiencing them. Just like you I too have boys, only 3 of them aged 6, 3 and 2. I think it is motherhood that causes this. We love our babies, but as you can relate, boys are a handful. I am pulled emotionally and physically all day long. THe last thing I want sometimes at night is for someone else demanding my attention. Someone else hanging on me. You on top of the demands of motherhood, have your bartending job which has got to be demanding. My advice to you, and has helped me, is to try and take a little time atleast 1 time a week for just you. Just allow for your man touch you. You just may find as annoyed as you are and moody, that it actually does feel good. It works for me. Trust me, it is all I can do sometimes to allow that, but once we get into it, I find myself wondering why in the world I was so aprehensive. Good luck!!!

wow I am glad you asked this. I was just going to check into the mirena IUD. But after reading all of these I think i will wait. I know I didn't help you but you sure helped me. thanks

I have had the mirena for a year and a half and have not experienced any of those symptoms. Check with your GYN. Maybe try a natural mood enhancer or something like that. It may just be depression and you may have to speak to your general doctor. The first step is recognizing the problem. I was on Paxil and Lexapro for some time before I got married. My now husband told me flat out that I needed to get on something or it would end our relationship. I liked the lexapro better then the paxil. I have not been on anything for 3 years now and I feel fine. Good Luck
