Congratulations and welcome to the twin-mommy club! I have 9 month old twin boys and a 3 1/2 year old boy. You've gotten some great advice already- but the most important thing to remember is that God never gives us more than we can handle! You can do this! I agree that you don't need to stress over finding a new OB-GYN unless your Dr. doesn't have much experience with twin pregnancy/delivery- most have more than you realize. Try to eat healthy & you'll need to drink even more water and light exercise can be great for your pregnancy (I did yoga until 31 weeks, and delivered 2 healthy boys 2 weeks later)- sometimes bed rest isn't the answer! Ask lots of questions and don't be afraid to ask for help once your little bundles arrive! Getting and keeping them on a schedule is half the battle. Best of luck to you for a happy and healthy pregnancy & delivery!

First-Congratulations! Don't worry about finding a new ob. If you need to be referred to a high-risk ob your current doc will refer you. Have you tried babycenter.com? They usually have calendars for everything and message boards for those expecting multiples. Find out everything you can now, esp if you plan to breastfeed. It can be a challenge but it can be done! My gf successfully breastfed her twin boy until they were a year old!

Deep Breaths! HAHA I have 14 month old twin boys and oh boy the 1st year I have to say about blew my mind. My twins were born in Texas, so I can't be much help with the OB, but I just wanted to let you know that twins are MANAGEABLE. You have 2 hands, so you can feed 2 babies! I have NO clue how people w/ 3 or more handle it. My husband joined the Airforce when the twins were 4 months old and we were moved from all our family in Texas to Florida. We learned to adapt and if I have one word of advice it is schedule! Our twins were on a schedule together and it was the ONLY thing that kept me sain. They both ate together, sleep at the same time and I had a chance to sit and relax or clean up during that nap! You have months to prepare and everything will just work out! I'm sure by the time they arrive, you will be prepared and ready for 2 precious babies to come home!! I wish you all the best of luck and if you ever need to chat, send me a PM. Take care!! --K.

Hello A.,

Well I dont have any experience with being a mom to twins but a I am a daughter of a twin. Anyway just thought that I can suggest a great OBGYN. I absolutely love him, His name is Dr. Terrence Peppy. He is with Physicians Associates located at Sand Lake Commons. I really do recommend him.

Good Luck with the babies and enjoy your pregnancy!!!

Well first of all, know you are mightily BLESSED! i have five and my first were twins.....it will all come together for you. no doubt! go to the library and get a few good books to read....and just slowly start down the road. you will be just fine! and man oh man, what a blessing it is! i love it! all five of mine!

Congrats on finding out you are having twins. I have 5 1/2 month old g/g twins. Like someone did say they are a lot of work and it has been a blur so far but worth it. I also went to the same doctor as the lady Dara posted about. They were great. The NF OB group that I did belong to did not deliver twins. That is the only reason why I went to a new group. I also delivered at Baptist Downtown. Baptist South is in the process of building on a new wing to the hospital which will include a level 2 NICU. You need a level 2 NICU around when you deliver twins. Mine stayed in the NICU for one month. I would do like someone else suggested. Don't switch doctors unless they tell you you need to. Have fun with the pregnancy. You will be spending alot of time getting ultrasounds done. I liked that part of it b/c I got to see the babies all the time.
Good luck and let us know how you are doing. I joined a yahoo online group that specializes in twins and other multiples. I have gotten alot of advice from the ladies that belong to that group. Maybe you could join that group too and start asking questions.

I know you already got tons of advice, but I wanted to add that Dr. Al-Malt in Orlando at Kids Docs is FANTASTIC! His partner, not so much...but Dr. Al-Malt and his staff are very gentle and caring people. I went there almost weekly for u/s etc. God's blessings on your pregnancy. Trust your instincts. ~ just a little info about my own pregnancy: One Doc said "if you don't do an amnio. your child will die"...I'm not kidding...what HORRIBLE bedside manner. I talked to God about it at length and decided that "we" weren't going to go that route. I have healthy 3 year old b/g twins...so I'm glad I listened to my heart and the Lord.

Congrats! We have 19 month old boy/girl twins! And you have a one year old??? Oh my! The 8 year old will be helpful and you'll need it. Hopefully you have family in the area or friends. The beginning few months are difficult and a BLUR! It is a lot of fun though. My OB referred me to North Florida OBGYN Barnes, Boyd and McIntyre downtown - with twins I had to deliver downtown also. Baptist South did not accept multiples at that time. Hopefully that has since changed. I also had to see a high risk doctor throughout the pregnancy who was also downtown. TONS of doctor appointments. :) If you have any questions or just need to chat - let me know! Good luck!!!!
