My precious 2 and a half year old daughter is weaning. She has been only suckling to sleep for about a year and now she is deciding that she doesn't want to fall asleep this way anymore. I am very happy i waited until she was ready. I was wondering if i made the right choice because of all the opinions i get from people. I am so happy she is ready and tapering off on her own.

But i am a little sad too, im going to blink and then she will be 18. She is my last baby

What can I do next?

Here's a happy one...

My son used to sing himself to sleep (from about 6mo-2y). Last night, what do I hear... kiddo (age 8) singing himself to sleep. :)

Bittersweet Milestone - I always sang my boys to sleep, always. Then, one day they asked me to stop! My older son was about 6 and my youngest was 3. I was so sad....I didn't think I sang THAT bad! lol

My eldest son graduates college this may...and will be commissioned the day before graduation...*heavy sigh*...still waiting on 'firm' orders.

I think back to his baby years, and seems only yesterday...

I really 'like' the man he has become.

I had mixed feelings to when mine weaned herself after 2.5 years. I was planning on weaning her anyway but was still sad. We make up the time by having Mommy & LO time before bedtime which mainly consists of sitting on the couch, snuggling and reading a book. Dad gets to have her 5 minutes before bedtime which is probably why he is all over her these days for hugs and kisses =)

If she (or I) want(s) more snuggles I always let her come to the "big bed" on weekends =)

My DD is growing out of the baby stage, and becoming a toddler. :( She's full-on walking, trying to run. Her birthday is next week!!! (happy, but sad.). BUT... Yesterday she said 'Love YOOOOU!' (very clearly too!) to me for the first time, so very very sweet! I'm looking forward to the person she will become as she grows into her personality. :)

We weaned at 2.5 and my son is now 4. I still am the primary tucker-inner at bedtime, and I still like to sit with him for a while as he lays down. He likes to hold my hand or just have his hand against me. I love having time in the evening to myself, but I know I'll miss it when he doesn't need me to spend the extra time with him. Sigh!

I just had this one hit me a month ago. We all got colds and he just didnt need it anymore. It was hard. He still asks me if i have boop boop..his nickname for them. I say yes but they are broken they dont work anymore. He seems fine with the answer to his inquiry.

He was the only one i was able to nurse. So it was a comfort thing for both of us. I was glad to have my boobies back though. We also just got him transitioned into the ''big boy room'' he has his own bed in with is brothers. last night he was so sad, he came in and goes i wanna sleep with you mommy. I couldnt say no. it was the first time he has shown he was not happy about the big boy bed.

I remind myself now though that he starts preschool in the fall. which my heart sinks to the thought. he is so much fun though so i am enjoying all his has to give us:)

The other two were..when my oldest lost his two front teeth last year and getting my milk shake in the middle potty trained(I honestly thought he would be in diapers until he was 6). to my surprise getting him to pee was easy. Our house mate got him to use the loo to poo. tothis day he doesnt know how he did it. not complaining though;)

My Daughter self-weaned at about 2.5 years old.
One day she just told me 'I don't drink from you anymore..." and then she giggled like it was so odd she did that.
And that was it.
She just stopped.

I did self-weaning with both my kids.
But my son self-weaned earlier, at about 1 year old.

Agreed, I weaned at 13 an d18 months for my two girls. Still hurts a little to think about years later.

Every time my daughter goes off to school for the first day.; It never gets easier for me. Preschool, Kindergarten, First Grade.

Also, she is done with princesses. Not really of course, but the obsession with Cinderella, which I despised for so long, is gone. Her tastes are more mature now. Not a little girl :( She is 7!!

Packing up the baby toys which we lovingly purchased and played with for hours. Replaced by all the stuff she has picked out herself or gotten as gifts.

My three year old having her first opinions about buying her own shoes, cute, but I miss being able to dress my baby.
