Its Happening! Any Bittersweet Milestones You Wish to Share?
My precious 2 and a half year old daughter is weaning. She has been only suckling to sleep for about a year and now she is deciding that she doesn't want to fall asleep this way anymore. I am very happy i waited until she was ready. I was wondering if i made the right choice because of all the opinions i get from people. I am so happy she is ready and tapering off on her own.
But i am a little sad too, im going to blink and then she will be 18. She is my last baby

Here's a happy one...
My son used to sing himself to sleep (from about 6mo-2y). Last night, what do I hear... kiddo (age 8) singing himself to sleep. :)

My eldest son graduates college this may...and will be commissioned the day before graduation...*heavy sigh*...still waiting on 'firm' orders.
I think back to his baby years, and seems only yesterday...
I really 'like' the man he has become.

Bittersweet Milestone - I always sang my boys to sleep, always. Then, one day they asked me to stop! My older son was about 6 and my youngest was 3. I was so sad....I didn't think I sang THAT bad! lol

I had mixed feelings to when mine weaned herself after 2.5 years. I was planning on weaning her anyway but was still sad. We make up the time by having Mommy & LO time before bedtime which mainly consists of sitting on the couch, snuggling and reading a book. Dad gets to have her 5 minutes before bedtime which is probably why he is all over her these days for hugs and kisses =)
If she (or I) want(s) more snuggles I always let her come to the "big bed" on weekends =)

My DD is growing out of the baby stage, and becoming a toddler. :( She's full-on walking, trying to run. Her birthday is next week!!! (happy, but sad.). BUT... Yesterday she said 'Love YOOOOU!' (very clearly too!) to me for the first time, so very very sweet! I'm looking forward to the person she will become as she grows into her personality. :)

We weaned at 2.5 and my son is now 4. I still am the primary tucker-inner at bedtime, and I still like to sit with him for a while as he lays down. He likes to hold my hand or just have his hand against me. I love having time in the evening to myself, but I know I'll miss it when he doesn't need me to spend the extra time with him. Sigh!
