Itchy Scalp

Ever since my baby was born, I've been suffering from itchy scalp. It's driving me crazy. I've tried so many shampoos and nothing seems to help. I even went to get tested for anemia and nothing. Anybody with that problem?

What can I do next?

I get itchy scalp during the winter anyway and my post pregnancy hair loss has made it worse. I've found that it helps to get my scalp nice and dry with a blow dryer. I also use a natural bristle brush and brush my hair a lot, it just feels nice.

Good luck

Good Morning RL,
There are different things you can do to address this problem. I would start supplementing with wild crafted algae that you can get from whole foods and the co-op. It can come in capsules; I think that is the easiest way to go. I’m hope it will help with the itchys. When we have babies there are so many things we can become depleted in. The algae is a good answer for many because it is a complete supper food. I’m imagining you might need to replace your omegas, fatty acids, and the nucleic acids that assist in all areas of lubrication not to mention brain development for baby if you are nursing. Fish oil is another more popular way to go and something to maybe take in addition because you could use the oil. General I believe that fish have all that nutrition because they eat algae. So why not go to the source. Good luck, I hope this helps!

I had the same problem after the birth of my last daughter. I used scalpicin and that seemed to work well. After a while the problem went away.

Crazy as it sounds but wash your hair with plain old vinegar. I'm going through this now and its working wonders, the itch is gone in just two washes, flakes are 99% gone as well.

Have you tried soaking your scalp in babyoil or even mayonaise? I know it sounds weird but i do it more in the winter since i have extremly dry scalp in the winter. Let me know how it works for you.

I developed a similar problem after the birth of my first son. I thought it was dandruff and treated it as such. But it never went away. It kept getting worse and I started losing some hair - it would break off. Finally, after several years I went to the dermatologist. I'm currently being treated for Psoriasis and/or dermatitis (they actually aren't sure which it is) with prescription shampoo, scalp oil, and cortisone solution. After two weeks its getting better. Don't ignore it.
