Im 22 and a mother of 2. I have been having very itchy nipples for about 2 months now. I have to pinch them to make them feel better its so bad. I have had a tiny ammount of discharge but nothing i can really see. The nipple is still soft and not rashy. Its only red when i itch them. I try not to but i cant help it!!! I have heard itchy nipples can be a sign of breast cancer, but i dont have any of the other symptoms for breast cancer. I have no changed detergents or lotions. I did stop taking BC 3 months ago and have not been using protection. Has anyone had this happen!?!?! HELP

What can I do next?

My breasts in general have been very dry this winter. I am still nursing my son, so I don't know whether it's the fact that they're exposed more frequently than in the past--but I've been nursing him through 2 winters, and I don't remember this. If you're nursing, or did nurse, I would not be surprised if there was milk expressed if you're pinching. I had my first son 5 years ago and have had milk ever since I was 7 months pregnant with him--never lost it between kids, or when I was pregnant. I simply put lotion on my breasts and it seems to help, but you seem like perhaps you're more concerned than that; if that's the case, I'd suggest taking it to your doc.

Could be a yeast infection. Try a anti-fugal and if that doesn't clear it up check with your doctor.

Are you breastfeeding? When I was, my son gave me yeast infections on my nipples. It sounds to me like that is what it is. Try putting some anti-fungal cream on them a few times a day for a few days. If that doesn't work, talk to your doctor about getting a rx to cure the infection. Hope this helps!

Itchy nipples can be a sign of a rare form of breast cancer. This type of breast cancer doesn't usually involve a lump...the cancer grows in nests or sheets throughout the breast instead of in a lump. It can also involve the breast feeling hot, the breast changing color, and the nipple inverting. It is so rare that many doctors have never seen a case and are somewhat unfamiliar with it. Because it is so rare, it is unlikely that you have it but if your breasts are itchy all the time then it is important to have it checked out just to be safe. Best of luck.

I cant help you but I have the same problem. Ive been lotioning them thinking it is dry skin. I actually made an appt with a dermatologist for next week. I did go braless yesterday and it seems to help a little. I wonder if there is something in my bra material that makes them itch. I have heard Vitoria Secret bras have formaldahyde in them and that is what I wear (who knows though, that could have been a story from the competition. I luckily do not have discharge, you might want to get that checked out. I will keep reading your post to see what others say. Good Luck!

Probably just the dry winter air. Try aquafor or baby oil and see if it helps.
