It Could Be Twins!?!

I need to know how someone else found out they were having twins.
I have an ultra sound in 2 weeks.
Went into to doc at 16 weeks just for a check up and she measured me at 20 weeks.
She asked about the idea of having twins.
My husband has a set of twins for siblings.

I need info how people found out they were having twins.
I will know for sure in 2 weeks at my ultra sound.

What can I do next?

So just one baby in there. I'm just off about 1 week not a big deal and no need to change due date.

I foud out was having twins when they did some kind of blood work work and it came back with something wrong with the baby they rushed me in for an ultra sound and that's when I found out I was having twins another way is I started showing when I was 3 mo. pregnant but I am really small, so that one would depend on body build.

that's scarey and exciting all at the same time!!:)
MY midwife thought the same thing for me.. fortunatly they took me accross the hall for a quick ultrasound..just to rule it out.. lucky me.. I was just large for dates i think she called it. :)
Only reason i say lucky me is that I had just had a baby 4 months prior.. my kids are a year and a week apart!!
whew!! I'm still trying to catch my breath!

I wouldn't get your hopes up quit yet. At 16 weeks I was too measuring at 20 weeks and only had one baby in my belly. I ended up measure 3-4 cm larger during the entire pg and gave birth to a healthy 8lb 13oz little boy. Good luck at your ultrasound though. You will have to repost and let us know what you find out. :)

That could turn out to be very exciting!
I hate to burst your bubble though, but I measured big throughout my pregnancy, and it turned out I had a 9 lb 9 oz baby!
Also, will this be your first ultrasound? My doctor did one at 12 weeks (and then again at 20 weeks), and the earlier ultrasound showed only one baby. I thought it was pretty standard to do an ultrasound during the first trimester, but maybe it isn't.
Well, good luck and let us know what happens!

hey K.,

identical twins are a fluke of nature (they don't "run" in families)and fraternal twins are only passed on from the mom. (if your mom typically released more than one egg each month, you may too.) so, there really isn't any other way to know for sure but think about other things that are happening in your pregnancy. are you sicker than you have been before? everything seems to more intensified when you are carrying twins. i threw up every day for 4 weeks and then it went away just like that. i could fall asleep at a moments notice if i wanted to. my mom joked i was having twins and sure enough, she was right. if you are, and you live in the portland area, there is a great support group i joined called fullhousemoms.com and it has been great preparing me for what's ahead. oh yeah, i'm 34 weeks right now and i'm measuring at 48!! scary, i know. really ready for them to come.

good luck either way!

we found out through an ultrasound when i was 6 weeks pregnant. yeah! i prayed for twins!

I have 5 month old twin boys. We went through fertility treatments, so we knew their was a chance of multiples. I had an ultrasound at 6 1/2 weeks and that is how we found out! Congratulations on the pregnancy and let us know what you find out!

Well, what was the end result?By now I think you should know and I'm curious.I am currently pregnant with twins due in ???mid feb.-march4th.We found out on our first visit at 6 weeks.I had an ultrasound it showed two seperate sacks. The initial reaction was both fear and excitment seeing as it was our first time trying. If its true those emotions are normal. Then you realize you've been blessed.
Congratsulations either way!!!

Congratulations! Keep us updated on what you find out!!!
