Is the Plasma Car Just Another Thing That Will Sit in the House Unused?
My daughter is 3 and saw this in the store and rode it all over. I was going to get it but wondered if it would be another wasted thing clutering my house. She has so many great toys like this that she never touchess. I am slowly getting rid of them, but was thinking this would be a great X-mas gift. I also have a Gepettos gift card that would make it free now that they are $20 off. Anyone have this and did it get used?

We got a plasma car last year and the kids still love it. Also, have you tried riding it? It's kind of fun. My 3 y.o. prefers riding the plasma car rather than his tricycle.

Oh my god. Best toy EVER.
My son started riding our neighbors (boy & girl) when he was 2. By the time he was 3 we insisted on a helmet. He's six and still rides it nearly everyday. So do they. Every kid I know, boy or girl, who has one rides it for YEARS. He's also the size of an 8 year old (nordic). <Laughing> also, every adult in the family has ridden it at least once and many of them multiple times. These things are built TOUGH. None of us has the agility on it though that the kids do...we're too heavy. But, BOY can that thing maneuver.
They can be ridden in doors slowly (ahhh...well, slowly is relative), or outdoors. They can do the butterfly steering wheel motion movement....but our neighborhood nicknamed the plasma car "the Scoocher". The kids' favorite thing to do with it is to scooch up hills or long driveways and fly down them...but hardwood floors & patios work in a pinch. Cul-de-sacs are nearly always blocked off by parents in lawnchairs reading as the kids whirl around.
We bought 2, one for home and one for Nana's, but most of our friends have one for every kid plus at least one "extra" for school friends & playdates.
My BIG advice on these:
- Helmets .... neither he nor any of his friends has ever fallen off, but dang can they get going FAST.
- Cheap designated sneakers. The toes get rubbed off as they push along with their legs...but they also need sturdy soles for breaking.
Have Fun!

Hi J.-
I have 4 yr old twin boys and they love them however the wheels on them suck. Our mall had a vendor that sold these plasma cars as well as different colored wheels which were also better quality. We bought the better wheels and they now glide like a skateboard. We were worried they would be another toy that just catches dust but they turned out to be a great investment. They can ride them for several years. Good luck!

I have never been big on gifts, they don't really remember what they had at 3 and it is an odd thing that really sticks with them (I had a strange little giraffe at 4). My boys loved the boxes that things came in. If it is free it sounds great, but there might be something else that you can get that would be more passive but stretch across the years.

We have two and my son loves them. He likes to ride them with us. They are strong enough to hold an adult.

My kids got these for Christmas a few years ago and they have gotten plenty of use, not just by my kids but by visiting kids as well. The only issue is that it works best on very smooth surfaces that are not that easy to find...even sidewalks have that seam that makes it not as fun to ride...but even the adults like to ride ours!!! The parents have been known to have plasma car races around our cement floored garage.

My 3.5 yr old outgrew her Little Tykes Red Car and I bought the plasma car (i bought one with skateboard wheels that run silent on my tile floor.) I kept it in the garage for months, thinking I wasted my money and they didn't care. Then I took it out. It's been used ever since. My now 4.5 year old daughter and her 8.5 brother use it all the time! I'm so happy. They ride together (which is so sweet) or in the house or at the park. Unlike the LT Ride On which only lasts a few short years, this will get more use!

J.,
My daughter is almost 2 and she has one, knows how to ride it, and loves it. She would love to play outside with it, but since our driveway is steep, she will use it as a ramp and zoom out into the street with it like all the other kids do. Our neighbors have this car, one is 3 and loves it. The others are 9 and 10 and they STILL ride it. So I say, get it!!! I think it is better than an electric car b/c it teaches them coordination, etc..

Hi I bought one for my 3 1/2 yr old. We've had it about 6-7 months. It gets used once in a while but it's like most of the toys it sits around. We have tile everywhere so I keep it inside. Her outside ride toys get more use but are getting weathered.
