Is Stainless Steel Freezer Safe?

I am planning to make a large batch of brandy slush for a New Years party. I have a large stainless steel mixing bowl that would be the perfect size to fit all of it, but it doesnt say on the bottom if it is freezer safe. I've checked online and the product description does say dishwasher safe but nothing about freezer. I did see some other stainless steel bowls that said freezer safe. I'm just worried that if it's not, then my whole batch of slush will get some kind of odd taste to it or something. Does anyone know if it would be ok to freeze for a couple days? Thank you and have a great New Year!

What can I do next?

I've used stainless steel bowls and cookware for over 50 years. Food will NOT take on a metallic taste because it's an inert metal unlike cast iron and possibly aluminum. Iron does bleed into foods and some say that aluminum does too but stainless steel does not. One cannot use aluminum utensils for such things as hair permanents and dyes because the metal interacts with the chemicals. But one can use stainless steel for those things.

Stainless steel is metal and can be used in a freezer.

I've refrigerated soups in stainless steel cookware for as long as a week and it did not affect the taste of the soup. I would not refrigerate food in cast iron or aluminum.

I wouldn't freeze anything in stainless steel for 'a couple of days'. You'll have metal tasting slushies.

I agree with the other moms who are saying it might take on a metallic taste. Remembering back to my college days, when we would mix drinks in trash cans (that had never been used for trash, only for drinks - we weren't THAT bad! LOL)... we would put a plastic food-grade liner inside the can and then all the ingredients in there, mix, and then decant into a better-looking container. (How to mix drinks for thousands... yep, that's what I learned in college! Ha!)

Anyway, maybe just get the biggest size Ziploc bag as a liner, or line the bowl with plastic wrap if you don't have another container that will fit in your freezer.

Have fun at your party!

It might take on a metalic taste. Better to freeze in glass, if you have it.

"Freezer safe" just means it won't crack or chip in the freezer, not that it won't make the food taste a little off.
