Is Schlitterbaun in Galveston a Good Place for My 3Yr Old?

My husband's company picnic is at Schlitterbaun in Galveston. Since this is his first year with the company, we haven't been to a picnic before and we haven't ever been to Schlitterbaun in Galveston either. We did go to the Schlitterbaun in San Marcus and I loved it but we didn't take her. She loves to swim, doesn't burn easily and of course we will use lots of sunscreen, but I have heard mixed info about the park. Someone said it is completely covered and someone else said it was uncovered. Is this a place for my three year old? Please advise

What can I do next?

Hi K.,
We went last summer and had a wonderful time! Granted, my son was 7 at the time and it rained most of the day. Most of the park is covered. They will let you on the rides if it is raining with no sign of electrical activity. If it is lightening then they have everyone get out for a period of time. Since we brought our own food we just took that time to sit down and eat and it worked out perfectly. There is a "kiddy park" that is covered with picnic benches surrounding it. It's also close to the slides and hot tub. It's a really neat little place for the kids. Of course, as at any park, you'll just want to keep a really close eye on her because there are lots of people...but I think you can all have a wonderful time and she'll really enjoy it! That's my two cents. Hope it helps!! -b

If it was me I would go and just spend a few hours first at the picnic and then about an hour or two swimming. If you can take someone to help you like your mother/father or another adult you feel comfortable with leaving your kiddo with that way you and your husband can go on a ride or two that would be ideal but if not at least you can spend some family time together. I have been to the one in New Braunfels and love it so much it great for all ages. I plan on going to the Galveston and S.Padre one soon. Check out the movie clip: http://www.schlitterbahn.com/gal/parkmap.asp it looks awesome.
Play safe and have fun

My 2 yr old son & I went to Schlitterbahn along with my girlfriend & her 2 yr old son & we had a really good time. The area where the company picnics usually eat is fully covered & I've seen clowns in there passing out balloons, etc. There are several childrens areas at the park, all of which your 3 old will love if she loves the water, two are completely covered from the sun too, while the others are completely exposed. We also went on the lazy river together, he sat in my lap once & another time he sat in the innertube that has a netting on it so that infants/toddlers can sit in the middle. There is also the roaring rapids which is a lil bumpier than the lazy river but we still had fun none-the-less. Some kids don't watch where they are going, etc, so as long as you keep a tight eye on your lil girl you both should have an enjoyable experience. Blessed Be ~ M.

K.,
Not sure, you can call. I know she would love Palm Beach @ Moody Gardens and it's free until she's 4.
