Is Pregnancy Possible After a D&C?
Has anyone had trouble conceiving after having a D&C ? I had one back in August. I had two miscarriagesthis past summer. My husband and I waited three months to start trying again. We've still had no luck. Wondering if D&C can make it harder or impossible to conceive... All in all, we've been trying for over a year now to have a second child. I am 36 and am beginning to feel that this is final. Note: Once I was placed on Bromocriptine to control my Prolactin level was easy for me to conceive. My problem after they put me on the medication last Spring was that I kept miscarrying. Ater waiting the three months to try again we don't seem to be able to get pregnant at all.

Yes it's still possible. Have you considered trying accupuncture? I have had several friends have good luck with that

I know several women who have conceived after a miscarriage/D&C. What does your doctor say? Is it possible to tell if there is any scar tissue causing problems?
It took us a longer time to conceive our 2nd child too (at age 35) after getting pregnant on the first try with the first - it looked like I wasn't ovulating every cycle. So although I'm sure you've thought of it already, obviously charting or using an OP kit is helpful to gather that information.
Best wishes to you and your family.

Fertility doctors usually do a D&C after exploratory surgery(to see if there is a problem). I was told you are MORE fertile after a D&C because the embryo can attach to the lining easier. Keep trying!

Talk to your doctor about getting a referral to a reproductive endocrinologist (unless you are already seeing one). I am also 36 and have had several miscarriages as well. (also have a son who will be 2 in Feb) I did not have to have a D&C with any of my miscarriages, but I did end up seeing a specialist after my last m/c. I'm not sure if scar tissue on the uterine wall is a risk of D&C, but there is a test they can perform -- I can't remember the name -- that involves shooting dye into your unterine cavity to see if scar tissue is your issue. By the way, I'm now pregnant with #2 (14 weeks, due early July), so stay positive. Your body has done this before, you can do it again.
