Is It Okay to Use the Microwave To...?
Is it okay to use the microwave to warm up the bottle that came out of the fridge for the baby? instead of running it under hot/warm water?
So What Happened?™
Cool. I had a Munchkin bottle warmer but it started to smell burnt and it took too long, the thing was $20 and I returned it. Now I'm back to the old fashioned, boil water, then I take a bottle from the fridge, put it in there and wait a few minutes. Or I'll run the cold bottle under hot water to bring up the temp. My baby is currently 2 months... I heard that if the milk is too cold the baby could get cramps and stomach aches?
I saw my friend heat up a bottle for her son in the microwave becuz he was hungry and she was desparate.

You should never microwave plastic as mentioned previously it realeases cancer causing agents into the food/drink. You also should not put really hot foods into plastic for the same reason. What I do for my child care is mix the bottles as needed, or mix the mix with half the water and refridgerate it. Then I add the additional warm water when the bottle is needed.

I think they usually say not to because the microwave can leave hot spots in the milk, and burn the baby.

To answer your question first, it's not a good idea for the reasons the ladies below have stated...
now the question, how old is your baby? I learned, after worrying about the temp of my baby's milk that they really don't care about the temp after a certain age ( I want to say 4 mos or so...) The idea is to keep it cool so as not to spoil...but the little ones don't care if its cool or warm...as long as they GET IT! :)

As far as everything I've read...No. The reason being is that it can create hot spots that don't quite blend. You know how when you microwave a meal...the center can be too cold or hot. It doesn't warm it evenly.
I used to warm the water in the microwave first in a shaker bottle. (Generic Gerber bottles) Then pour in formula, shake it and then pour it in the bottle she used.
I don't know if it's formula or breast milk you are using Similac sells ready made serving size formula. Shake, crack and serve.
I hope this helps.

No. When you use the microwave, you can create "heat pockets" in the milk or food. While some parts are cool - lukewarm, you may come across a pockets that is very hot and can burn your babies mouth. I know its easier and faster, but I don't think its worth the risk.

no u shouldn't do that, its bad for the baby and when u warm the bottle on the microwave it leaves hot spots in the milk and that can burn the baby and it won't taste the same... just warm under hot water or just put a pan with water in the stove then put the bottle in when the water is hot. Also there is bottle warmers at target or any other place... they worked great. i used for my girls and it only take couple minutes. hope this help
