If it just started she might just have allergies and is stuffy.
Try a humidifier and I also use those vicks plug ins

C. - I have to agree with the rest of the girls. My son had been snoring and ended up having sleep apnea as well as tonsil/ear infection problems. He had his adnoids, tonsils and ear tubes all taken out and put in at 3 years old. I would definately see an Ear, Nose & Throat doctor soon. Good Luck! L.

No, it's not normal - and indicates a problem which could lead to sleep apnea. See an ENT and/or sleep lab technician to evaluate her. She most likely will need her tonsils and adenoids out. Good luck (p.s. my close friend is a sleep lab tech and HER daughter snores like nobody's business... she just made the appointment for the tonsil / adenoid removal). You're not alone!

Yes, My DD who is 2 as well, snores. Just wondering what kind of snores your DD's are? Mine are soft but enough to hear, we think its kind of cute. If they were really loud and cut short (stopping in the middle) I would worry. My DH has sleep apnea and he often stoped breathing. I got use to knowing when that happened but the DR says theres no issue for her at this age. Even still until I knew she was out of the age for SIDs I had many sleepless nights and she actually had her crib in our room until she could climb out. Then she slept in bed with us. We have had her out of our bed and in her own room but until DS started sleeping in the same room, we didn't sleep much then either. My point is I get the fear it can add. I just try to keep in mind the DR knows more than I do and unless her snores sounded scary, I'm going to trust the DR's.
Hope this helps.

Do you think she could have allergies? right now (after all of the rains here) the plants are working extra h*** o* the pollen and my son (who is allergic to trees & bushes..but he is not having daily problems) woke up sneezing and sneezing yesterday..

Does she seem stuffed up at all? has this just been for 3 days or longer? Try a new pillow..to see if that cahanges anything (older pillows may have mites or mold in them) just a thought

Hi,

When we first moved my daughter into a bed at around age 2 1/2, we noticed that she began to snore. Long story short, we discovered she has alergies and so we changed her mattress and got special mattress and pillow covers and within a week she stopped snoring. It could be a seasonal allergy or one to dust and dust mites.

Good Luck!

My son snored terribly around 3 years old. Told the doc about it. Turned out he had huge tonsils and adnoids - both were removed and the snoring stopped. Afterwards, I connected the fact that my son rarely ever ate meat with him not being able to breathe and chew at the same time!

Hi C.,

Two of my kids snored. I pointed it out a a check-up and was referred to an ENT. They both had tonsils and adenoids removed and no more snoring. They recover more quickly the younger they are when the surgery is done, so don't put it off.

Good luck,

My son always snored and I thought it was cute too. Then I spent a week inhotel room with him and realized how bad it was! Talked to the pedi at his reguler visit who suggested an ENT. turns out he had HUGE tonsils and grossly infected adnoids. Both came out and no snoring now!

Hi, My daughter snored as well and she also got a lot of ear infections. She had tubes put in her ears and at the same time had her adnoids out. They were causing her to snore and partially was part of the ear infection problem. Have you mentioned this to your Ped? Good Luck!

When my daughter's snoring turned into apnea her tonsils had become enlarged. She eneded up having surgery to reduce the size of her tonsils and hacve her adnoids removed. She was 2 and 1/2 at the time. I'd see an ENT just to be safe.

Hi C.,
When our daughter was very young she too snored which I thought was odd. Her pediatrician said she had huge adnoids and tonsils. Later that year she had them removed for medical reasons. No more soring! Hope this helps.

Hi,
This is a great question for your pediatrician. I would call to report your observations. Sometimes young children snore when they have colds or are congested, but regular snoring may indicate that tonsils/adenoids are making it difficult for your child to breathe fully (hence the snoring). I find that children who snore don't get the full benefit of their sleep, and can be irritable or tired, or antsy and labelled misbehaving or inattentive. Just check in with the pediatrician and definitely keep any eye on this situation.

My son snored terribly -- beginning at a very young age. He has allergies, asthma, and had tonsils that touched -- hence his snoring problem. As soon as he turned 3 we had his tonsils removed, and the snoring is minimal now, only when he has a head cold.

Many children do snore, but in his case, (and his older sister's I might add) tonsils were the culprit

I would talk to your pediatrician about it. My nephew snored and then they took out his gigantic tonsils and he stopped snoring and starting eating much better.

My now 5-year old has always snored. It has never been an issue. The only thing you always need to watch out for is that they don't have sleep apnea, which is when they actually stop breathing for several seconds. You would notice it because they usually make a loud snore noise when they finally "remember" to breath. Sleep apnea can cause tiredness during the day...and we all know that leads to crankiness. YUCK
Good luck!

I would have him checked out by the pedi. They can xray his neck and look to make sure everything is ok. My son used to snore so loud he would wake me up in my bedroom. It turned out his adnoids were enlarged and he had to have them removed(at y yrs old). Don't panic...it was such an easy surgery. My son was up jumping around that afternoon like nothing was done. Never even needed as much as tylenol for pain.
