iPod Touch Guidance Needed!

Hi Moms,
We are thinking of getting our 6.5 year old an iPod Touch. She sees her friends with DS's and playing with their parents iPhone apps and really wants something like this for herself. All her cousins have the iPod Touch and we thought we'd go ahead and get it for "her" but let her know the whole family will use it for music and some of its other features. She'll be fine with the sharing. My question is, since we know very little about this, which one would you folks familiar with the iPod Touch recommend -- the 8GB, 32GB or 64GB? We like the 8 because it's less expensive, but will we regret not shelling out the extra $80 for the 32? Any other things we should consider before purchasing? Any guidance you iPod savvy moms can offer would be great. Thanks!

What can I do next?

My 13 yo daughter has the 32GB. She doesn't have a lot of songs on it, but she does have a lot of apps (there are a ton of free ones) and she still has about 20GB free. If you will be downloading movies or tv shows, I would recommend the 32, especially if you will be sharing it.

For her age 8GB is totally acceptable. I have a 32GB and its almost full, but I have almost 5000 songs, pictures and 10 apps on it. Also you can set parental controls for it. The one thing I reccommend is getting itunes gift cards instead if setting up itunes to a credit card, that way if anyone purchases songs or apps you dont have to worry about charges on your card (you do have to ebter a password for each purchase if you set a credit card up to it so if they dont know the password then you dont have to worry). If you have any specific ?s feel free to message me :-)

My 9 yo has the 8 and has never had a problem with it. My *guess* and I am not very technical so could be wrong, is that if you are going to put a lot of songs or books on there you would want it bigger.

I just bought the 32GB and love it! It's like having a pocket size IPAD. If I were you I would pay the extra and get the 32GB. Just make sure that whatever you buy that you get the screen protectectors & a rubber cover so it doesn't get scratched. One of it's best features is "Face Time"

IPOD Touch is the hottest thing out there right now next to IPAD :)

I have an 8GB for myself, but my daughter has 'taken over'. She loves it and I bring it everywhere in my purse; for those long drives, lines or waits. We have a lot of the Disney digital copy movies and have downloaded a few movies too but those use a LOT of space. We can probably have a total of 5-6 movies on there at once and little to nothing else. For long trips it would be nice to have more options saved on there so it doesn't get old. I am constantly changing what is on my computer vs what is on the ipod. The apps don't take up that much space that you couldn't keep her top 20 on the Ipod for a while before changing them out and you could easily keep her top 100 songs on there too. But the movies and videos and apps and songs together can easily maximize the 8GB.

I just bought my son the 32G for Christmas, we waited until we found a deal on it though, Toys R Us was offering a $25 gift card with the purchase of any IPOD touch. If you are JUST planning on using it for music the 8G is fine, but if you want apps, movies etc on it I would go with the 32G, especially if it will be shared amongst family members.

My 11 yr old son has the 32 gb - and he actually has TV shows on it and alot of games. He's still got plently of sapce availalbe. My 14 yr old daughter wants one for Christmas but has already told us she only needs the 8 gb since she intends to use it for music only.

If you expect she'll use it for games too you might want to spend the extra $ for the additional space - but the 8 gb is more than adequate for music.

I have the 32 gig - and have had it for about a year. I have 9 pages of apps, and quite a lot of music - there are 16 apps on each page, so I have around 144 games, and 100's of songs. I have used up 6 gigs...that will tell you that unless you are going to be doing some major stuff - which a 6 year old wont, you wont need more than the 8.

one small thing - GET AN OTTER BOX lol, it has saved mine a 1000 times over.
