Ipod Question

My mother in law gave my son her old ipod. He loves it. We are going a six hour car ride for a week long vaction next week. At home we plug his ipod into the computer to charge. We will not have a computer on vacation. Is there another way to charge it?? I know nothing about ipods, just how to turn it on and charge it in my computer!! Thanks!

It should also have a plug for the wall... attaches to the firewire that you already use to plug it into the computer to charge...

You should also ask your MIL if she still has hers. Mine came with the charger that plugs into the wall.

There are adapters that plug into the car. The nice thing about those are that you can listen to the music on an ipod by plugging in the ipod to the car and tuning into a specific station on the radio. You might not me interested in listening to your son's music but at least it gives another option/use rather than just having a charger that plugs into the wall.

Not all brands will charge the ipod though. Go to Best Buy and ask in that department for a device to play the ipod in the car and anyone who works there should be able to point you in the right direction. I used to have one that I believe was the brand Monster? and it charged the ipod. You can just plug it into the car without listening to it and still charge the battery. I have one now that is the brand River but it doesn't charge it - big mistake on my part.

I have a car charger, and my old iPod came with a wall charger adapter too. The new iPods don't use the same chargers, but you said he had an old one.

Be careful, I got a cheap car charger and you can't play the iPod while charging because it freezes. I would have been better off buying a Belkin brand rather than a cheapo one! They run between $15 and $20 for a good one.

You can buy chargers that either charge in the car or in a regular outlet in the house. I bought mine at maybe Target or Walmart...either place should probably carry them
