Internet Options
Ok, I think that I am ready to enter the world of cable internet. Until now I have always used dial up. I am looking to get a little bit faster internet and was wondering what all you mommies out there used and prefered. I have AOL right now and really like it. I know once I get something faster I will LOVE that. All we really use it for is listening to music on utube (my daughter) and playing games on certain websites. I dont need anything SUPER fast or SUPER pricey. I have gotten a quote from Comcast ($70 for cable and internet)and Qwest ($41 just for internet). From those two options seems like comcast is the better deal. Does anyone have any other service they would recommend?

I went with Blue Mountain Internet .. access thru Qwest. Political reasons. Hate what Comcast is up to now re: net neutrality and don't want to send them any of my money. savetheinternet.com i think is the site that can clue you in. Blue Mountain Internet will not share any info with the govt without a warrant .. which i think is a reasonable position ...... i like my privacy.

I just got a deal from comcast for their fastest best internet they offer for $19.99 a mo. for 6mos. I switched last week and LOVE it. Prior to that I had netscape dial up. If they can give it to me for that cheap they should beable to do the same for you. If it goes up crazy in 6mos. I'll cancel and go somewhere else.

Are you sold on cable? We have DSL through Qwest. It's not *quite* as fast as cable, but still pretty speedy. And you can still be on the phone will it's in use. We pay $26.99/month for bundling it with our phone bill, and that rate is guaranteed for life. And I think we also now get another discount for having added our Direct TV bill onto the phone bill, but that's of course totally optional--I only mention it in case you have or are thinking about a dish. The service provider through Qwest is MSN premium high speed. We've had it for years and have been pretty happy with it. We have no problems watching things on youtube or downloading things, though a lot of that will depend on the speed/memory of your computer (if it doesn't have much capacity, even cable won't help that). Good luck!

If you just want something that's faster than dial up I would go with Qwest. We have Comcast cable and internet and paby $120 a month. The jack up their prices without telling you. Cable is fater than the DSL Qwest offers but if you aren't looking for super speed DSL would be fine.

i have to say that the comcast quote is a farce as well! i received the same price when i called an i pay $112 a month! the quote is for basic cable, i have digital. any add ons such as dvr or special channels are extra.
i feel the cable bill won't be more then qwest's $41 just for internet as i was paying $80 a month before for cable but just be aware your bill will not be $70 as stated.
