First Evangelical Free Church, Monterrey Blvd. Nice group of young families. Check the MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) program for yourself. I think you will love it.

We love our church and it has all you've described. Bethany Lutheran Church www.blcms.org 3701 West Slaughter Lane 78749, church office ph.no. ###-###-#### Worship on Sunday is at 8 am, 9:30 and 11 am. (contemporary praise during the two later services) Lots of families worshiping together and we just did a family oriented mission trip to el paso/juarez...with plenty more opportunities for helping community beyond our church walls. Also some wonderful bible study opportunities lined up for this year both for women's groups and families (gift groups during the week...I didn't pay attention to any men's groups...sorry...)

There's just a lot going on...would love it if you'd check it out!

You said "most religions" I'm assuming you meant the word "denominations.

Bannockburn Baptist Church at Brodie Lane just south of Wm. Cannon on Sundays offers Growth Groups at 9:30 and 11:00 and worship services simultaneously. On Tuesday mornings 9:30 - 11:30 childcare is provided while moms have choices of faithbooking (scrapbooking) or several Bible study groups. Many women attend who have young children. On Wednesday evenings children's choirs and classes for adults on things such as parenting, finances, Bible study.

First Evangelical Free Church, 4220 Monterey Oaks Blvd near MoPac and Target is a solid congregation with many opportunities. Westoak Woods Baptist (Slaughter and Westgate)has numerous programs and opportunities for young families. Abiding Love Lutheran is at Convict Hill Road and Brush Country.

I've been a member at BBC for decades. I have friends at and am familiar with the churches mentioned. There are many fine congregations in South Austin. I hope your first visit at one will make you feel like it's where you belong. A place to be nurtured and to grow as a family strengthened by God's love.

Traci,

I belong to a wonderful church (Southwest Hills community church) and have for about 10 years. We started out at Mills elementary school, about three years ago our church purchased the old Mt. Olive campus on 71 just past they y in Oak Hill. We are a growing church, wonderful children ministries, awesome pastor, and just a great family of people who really want to make a difference in the world and in the Austin community. You should check out our website (shcc.net), and visit our church. Hope you can visit. Good luck finding a church.

We have attended Fellowship Church Southwest for the last 2 yrs. We have a 4 and 2 year old. The childrens ministry is great! One of the missions of the church is also to reach out to the community. I respect that they provide services to the community that aren't just evangelistic. Have you heard of the Candy Carnival held at Bowie High School. It is a free event for the community yearly at Halloween. Good luck in your search! Hope to see you soon.

Hi Traci,

My family and I attend Fellowship Church Southwest (http://www.fcsouthwest.com), and we currently meet at Bowie High School on Slaughter Lane. Their Sunday services are at 9:15 am and 11:00 am. I have one daughter who is 7 years old, another daughter who is 3 years old, and a third baby on the way. My children love their children's ministry time.

My family and I have been attending Fellowship Church Southwest since the first of this year. We belonged to another church for a few years and were heavily involved but left that one and found Fellowship. After my experience with the other church, Fellowship is a church where they "talk the talk, but also walk the walk" which is SO important for my husband's and my spiritual growth. My husband and I enjoy all the messages we hear every Sunday. They have have a very strong pastoral team (lead pastor, associate pastor, pleasant staff, and a well balanced elder team) which is something a solid church requires.

Fellowship is starting up a new Fall women's bible study this coming Tuesday, Sept 2 at 9:30am. Take a look at their website for more info.

Since we (Christians) are suppose to be the "light and the salt" to others, Fellowship Church welcomed me with open arms when I approached them to lead a Dave Ramsey Financial Peace University class, which started on August 26. They are 100% supportive of growing new ministries and helping the community.

I am so blessed to have found this church and would highly recommend it to others. Their environment is laid back which makes it comfortable in all different ways.

My best advice to you is to try out different churches in the area and see which one suits you. I know it can take some time but God will lead you to the one that He wants you to say "this is my home church".

Blessings to you always,
K.

We are located in central austin but you will not find us with child care. Child care is not written in God's plan for he plainly tells us PARENTS TRAIN UP YOUR CHILDREN. Parents use to do that, but today we live in a world where no one will take responsibilty without being paid to do it.
Our children attend worship service right alongside of us the parents. This is the only way to do it. It has been proven that children who are put into Sunday School classes are the #1 children to leave the church! Take them to worship with you, teach them to sit respectfully and learn. This way you KNOW WHAT they are taught. How dare any parents trust anyone to teach their children the values of the parent. Believe me, I learned the hard way by sending mine to public school! Sit with your children as the preacher speaks to them or as they watch a video. KNOW what they are being taught and correct when they have been taught wrongly. It's all a part of being a parent!!

We like Bannockburn Baptist on Brodie lane. Lots of young families go there and they do have a mother's day out program during the school year starting for kids around 6 months old. Also, there is usually a women's Bible study available on Tuesday mornings and wonderful growth groups on Sunday mornings.
