I thought i read somewhere that by the end of this year companies that had over 50+ employees had no choice but to offer their employees health insurance??
My DH works for a company that has over 50+ employees and they do not offer health insurance....

Or is this part of the Obamacare?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Kris S----- AMEN!! I totally agree 100%! My DH employer is so money hungry its not even funny! anything he can do to save a penny he will! Prime example: My husband was working OT one weekend and hit a parked car with a backhoe he was running. (construction) total accident! They wanted my DH to pay for the damage. WTF!! My husband put his foot down and said absolutely not. You cant take all the good. You have to take the bad with the good. It was on company time and a complete accident.. that is why you have car/equipment insurance. CROOKS!

2014 and yes it is part of Obamacare.

Oh and you have to work over 28 hours so the speculation is they will cut employees down to part time to avoid the penalty.

Kind of makes me wonder why unskilled labor isn't scared to death right now because it would seem instead of getting your health care paid for you are going to get your hours cut while the government forces you to buy insurance.

His company needs to make a plan available but does not need to pay the entire premium for the employees.

Stop reading now if you don't hear my rant. My husband and I run a small business with 5 full time employees. We have ALWAYS offered our employees a health insurance plan. We have ALWAYS paid our employee's premiums in full. People NEED health insurance and I think the whining by bigger companies is ridiculous. They should have been providing health care for their employees from the beginning and they should be paying the premiums for them. I am sick to death of whiny corporate executives who keep taking bigger and bigger bonuses on the backs of the average worker (can you say HOSTESS and that criminal venture capital company that drove them into the ground!). We need to quit letting big and small companies make excuses for not treating their employees like human beings. There, got that off my chest.

I think it's part of the Obamacare. If the company doesn't offer insurance, then they will pay a fine. I've heard that a lot of companies are going to opt to pay the fine b/c it will cost less than insurance.

Understand that I don't think Obamacare says the employer has to pay the entire premium, just that they have to offer it. So even if the company does start offering insurance, doesn't mean it will be free

They will either have to offer it or to pay a $2000/employee penalty for not doing so. You will then be required to purchase your own insurance policy from a group of policies offered by an insurance exchange. To be sure that you do it, you will have list your insurance company, policy number, and coverage dates on your annual taxes.
