Insect Bite
i am pregnant with my first so i have a lot of questions. anyway, I got an insect bite last night. It was itching, burning and my arm is swollen about 2 inches around the bite. I've been putting ice on it and the baking soda/water solution to help with itching and swelling. Is there any concerns I should be aware of or other symptoms to watch for, especially being pregnant? Just curious.
thanks
So What Happened?™
well it probably was a spider bite, but not a brown recluse. The swelling and redness have gone away and it looks like just a misquito type bite that is left. The nurse said it should be okay.

i've been bitten by a brown recluse. i thought it was no big deal but the next day the redness spread and the pain increased. eventually i started feeling sick and feverish. i'm glad i went to the ER that day. so i also suggest going to a doctor right away.

Could be a bee sting. They burn and itch, too. Try a paste of meat tenderizer and water. If it isn't too late to get it into the bite, it will neutralize the venom.

It sounds like a spider bite. Did you see what bit you? Watch it closely, and make sure you weren't bitten by a brown recluse. If you're not sure, go by your doctor or a quick clinic to have them look at it. Brown recluse bites can get very nasty, and the poison kills the flesh around the bite area leaving terrible sores and scarring if preventative measures aren't taken.

I would call your doctor and ask if you should be concerned, especially if you suspect it is a spider bite.

It sounds like a spider bite to me. Unless you are allergic to mosquitoes. My friend swells up like a puffer fish when she gets bitten by mosquitoes. The bites just welt up on her. We know it's not spiders because it happens when she's just outside bbq'ing dinner.
Regardless of what it is, you're obviously having a reaction and you should call the doctor about it.
Best wishes!
