Ink Stains
Happy Holidays!
I hope that you all are well. I wanted to see if anyone has any recomendations on how to get some red ink out of my husbands work shirts. This morning while ironing he notice some very small, what look like ink stains...could be crayon, on his shirt. When I went to his closet I noticed a few small spots on two other shirts and I desperatly need any advice I can get on how to get it off. I would hate to throw them away but he is very picky about his suits and he wil not wear them as they are. Please help! Thanks you in advance!

Krud Kutter is just as miraculous as Magic Erasers! It is a must for every home with husbands and kids! LOL
You can find it at Home Depot near the paint removers. Completely safe and easy on fabrics, hands and noses!

If it's ink from a pen, hairspray works every time. Just spray, blot, spray, blot, etc. until it's gone. You may have to spray heavily and saturate the stain, but it will come out.

I don't know about this, but I have been told over and over, that adding pine sol to the wash water (preferably one of the fresh sent kinds), can take out some really terrible stains, or even pretreating the stains with it and then washing the clothes. It sounds like a crayon may have been left in the dryer like in somebody's pocket. This has happened to us before, but I was able to catch it before putting the clothes in the dryer, and just the rewashing got the stains out. Often, the heat from the dryer will set the stain forever. Otherwise, you may have to dye all of the shirts red. LOL!

You can also try using a Magic Eraser. It evens works on clothes!

Last Christmas, my son left crayons in his pocket. I washed them AND dried them. The best thing I found to get it out was WD-40. That worked pretty well. Also, WD-40 gets silly putty out of carpet.
Good luck!

J.,
Let me add one more suggestion for ink stains, greasy food
drops or whatever might find its way onto your clothes and that is lighter fluid. This would be the kind you use to fill
a cigarette lighter. I use the hairspray, but I also have saved many a shirt and blouse from the trash barrel by using
it.
Good luck.

Rubbing alcohol and hairspray does the trick. I work it out with both of them because you have to keep rincing because you'll get run offs or smears but it will get it out.

What usually works for me on ink stains is a lot of hairspray. I usually use any brand in a can. If it is going to work, you will notice the ink color will start to fade. Repeat as necessary. Do not put the clothing in the dryer until the stain is out, as this will set in the stain. Good luck!
