Info on Baby Steps Day Care

Hi,
I am looking for day care in the white rock area and I am located close to Baby Steps Day Care on Peavy Rd. Has anyone heard anything about this place-good or bad? Any info or other referrals would be greatly appreciated.

Hi G.,
my daughter who is 5 now has been in Baby Steps for a year, my 2-year-old daughter has also been there for a few months before our family moved to Europe for a year. The place was recommended to me as a nice small family like day care. I liked it very much myself and I would definetely recommend it to you.
The only thing would be to make sure they are taking little babies, I know that they used to but I am not sure how it is now.
Ms. Stella Finger is the director and she will take you around if you would like to visit the place.
Good luck and welcome to the White Rock area, it is very nice - great parks for kids, the Arboretum etc.(we lived in Lakewood for 3 years).

Hi G.,
Welocme to the neighborhood! My neighbor looked into Baby Steps and just raved about what a great place she thought they were.
Two other friends use Bethel Lutheran- both used them 2-3 days a week and love it. It is the big church on Northwest Highway just west of Lowes.
Hope this helps!
I live in the neigborhood, so if you have questions about anything else feel free to e-mail me!

G.,
I just responded to your first request (sorry for taking so long!) and didn't realize you were the one asking about baby steps. I put in a review a little while back on BS, but haven't actually sent my kids there. I was looking for a once a week PDO, but they required 2 or more days. I'm still considering sending her there, I just don't know when I'll be up for (the cost of) 2 days per week.

Now that I'm thinking about it, I don't think they have an infant program. I think they start at 10 months. All the kids under 24mo are grouped together with a ratio of 5 to 1, if I recall correctly.

Comparing prices between Lake Higlands Presby CDC and BS, they are both about $35/day. At 18 mo LHPCDC drops to $25/day. At 24 mo BS drops, but not much, maybe $30 ish.

Good luck!
J.

I live in the White Rock area, too, and it is really hard to find full time childcare in this area. Most of them in this immediate area are either half days, only 4 days per week, or are a mother's day out program. I am very familiar with Baby Steps. Although I do have a friend whose child is there and she seems to really love it, I personally am not very excited about it. I have been fairly spoiled though. My kids have been in a large open center for several years and being in there just made me clostrophobic. The staff, however, is very nice and you can tell they really enjoy what they do.

Do you know what area of town you'll be working in? Maybe you can find something else closer to your workplace. Although it can be difficult finding a place that will accept part time care.
