Infant Carriers/strollers

If I were you, I would try it in the store first. See if it's lightweight and if it's easy to manuever. I had to learn the hardway that this is a MUST!

I am expecting twins, too! Congrats! We bought a side by side Combi stroller for when they get older. We also bought a Graco piggy back type stroller from Babys R Us. This is the one where the 2 carseats fit in the stroller. The carseats only hold each baby up to 22 lbs but I believe both strollers hold children up to 40lbs.

Congratulations! I went for the Graco Duo Glider, it comes with one infant carrier and you just have to purchase a second one. Very easy to use, our kids are 3 and we still use the stroller!

I have 15 month old twins and I could not live without the bjorn carriers (one for me and one for my husband). They were lifesavers once they were about 2 months old until 5 months when they would want to be held and I just didn't have the arm strength anymore.

Regarding the carrier and strollers, We have the Graco safeseat carriers and loved them. They were in them until they were a year old and we really only changed because their feet were touching the seat (since they were still rear facing). We have the Graco Duoglider stroller which is great because it fit the safeseat carriers perfectly and now that they can just sit in a stroller it's plenty big.

I also recommend that you have two umbrella strollers because those suckers are very handy. I used one of my umbrella strollers in our house for over a month before I ever used it outside. It was very entertaining to the babies and if you are going to be alone with them at all up through six months then you'll want to be able to push one in a stroller while carrying the other in the carrier on your front.

Good luck with the babies and when you get to the point that you think it just can't get any harder, that every day they get older and more self reliant and you will make it. It does get easier, I swear (although for me it wasn't until 5 months).

congratulations on your twins! i remember being frustrated with the market for the same issue!!! We ended up getting 2 strolers - first we got 2 infant carriers and a stroler base - Baby Trend Double Snap N Go Car Stroller Frame. you can assembel to fit any 2 infant car seats.. works great when you are shopping with the kids, and they fall asleep in the car seat - then we bought a side by side stroler made by peg prego - haven't had a problem fitting through a door way - or go shopping with the kids yet. they seemed to move into the sit by them selves w/out the carrier at wbout 6-8months - so we are thrilled to have both.. Get the double snap and go... they are the best!!!!!

You must get a double snap-n-go (It was the best when my twins were little). It works with most infant carriers (we had graco snug ride). We also had a double Maclaren for when they were older to keep in the car. I bought a jogging stroller when we starting walking to the park and around the neighborhood (Jeep Safari). It was by far the best for the money. Good luck. Hope this helps!

I agree w/ Karen. I have the graco duo glider. It is the cheapest of the twin options where you can snap in car seats, which the corresponding snug rides are rated very well for safety.

By the time your kids grow out of the snugride carseats, they could probably sit in the stroller without the seats.

You may want to consider Dupage Doubles if you are in the area. It is a great group for new twin Moms and Dads. We also have a resale coming up at the DuPage County fairgrounds in March.

By the way, my twins are 9 months old...a boy and a girl.

I have the joovy.com I think it's called the groove 2. I never liked the carseats outside the car. They are heavy, bulky and I felt a stroller was a much simpler option. This stroller also leans all the way back so as newborns they are not curled over and it has a head thinky to heep the head in place.
Mine are "Irish Twins" 11 months appart so my daughter walks a little and when she gets tired hops on her stroller. They are next to each other - as opposed to in front and back - so she's constantly holding her brother's hand, touching him, he is now smiling at her and reaching back, I love it.
It's light, easy to assemble, I am very happy with i. I can't imagine trying to carry two carseats!
Another option could be a single stroller and a bjorn or sling. I do this quite often to just go to the grocery store, only my daughter walks then sits on the cart. You could strap one to you and the other in the carseat or stroller.

I love the bjorn but now that my son is 5 months he's getting a bit heavy. My daughter was carried much longer on there, she was a little smaller and lighter.

I have 1 year old twin girls (along with 3 and 5 year old boys) and highly recommend getting a double snap and go stroller (a frame where the car seats snap in). It's a great stroller and I used it exclusively for the first 6 months until they were too big for the infant car seats. It's great to be able to get them in and out of the stroller without waking them up. It's easy to push despite the length and folds up and fits easily in the back of our minivan. It's well worth the price for the short term use.

I have twins. My recommendation is that if you can find a double stroller that will accomodate two carriers, then get it. All double strollers will be bulky and heavy. If you cannot, then purchase Snap n' Go Double to use with your carriers. Carriers are absolutely needed for little ones... you can move them in/out without waking... key. Congrats.

I have 2 year old b/g twins. I got the GRACO stroller with the car seats that snaped in and to be frank it was a life saver because I could easily take the kids out while they where sleeping and pop them in. I would often go grocery shopping and push it with one hand and pull a cart( sounds hard but you get use to it). They came out with the frame ones right after I got mine. I would totally look into them because the down side of the double stroller is the size when you colaspe it. I also got the cheap Jeep side by side which i love now that the kids are older.

Congrats! Twins are great! I have a b/g set of my own that are 19mos old. Ok, here's my best stroller advice. I prefer for my older twins to have a side by side that fits through doorways. But when they were younger the snap and go one's were easiest. If I had to do it all over again. I would either find a good snap n' go side by side. . . Or. . . buy just one of those stroller frames for the pumpkin seats while they are small, then when they grow out of those go buy a decent side by side.
A front/back stroller is nice, but it is hard to shop though clothing racks due to it's bulky size. I had bought a nice peg perego expensive stroller and it was CRAP. I then went out and bought a cheaper Jeep Side by Side stroller and I LOVE it! The Peg Perego stroller stopped pushing smoothly. My little nieces couldn't even push it at all. When I went to their website for trouble shooting it says they require regular maintanance every 3-4 mos of oiling the wheels. What ever. My sisters like the McClaren. I love them too. I wish I would have JUST spent my money on that.

Consumer Reports says that the Chicco KeyFit is the best infant seat right now. It's ahead of the Britax by 9 points. I don't know if it comes in a double or not:(

Definitely try to get a double stroller with infant carriers to attach - this will be a timesaver and backsaver for you. You won't have to disturb a sleeping infant by having to buckle and unbuckle to go from carseat to stroller. Of course, maybe you won't venture out that much with twin infants! I had my first two kids 13 months apart, so I went with an Eddie Bauer model double stroller, but it had just one infant car seat carrier for it - but it was the easiet of the double strollers to maneuver and to collapse for putting away in the car. Also, it wasn't too heavy to lift in and out of the car. It was also very sturdy (still have it) and wears very well. Not cheap, but so worth the money!!!!!
