My budget is about $10.00 for 40 kids, per snack. Is that even possible? Anyway, I have to do snack craft ideas for kids. What I have so far is ants on a log.

I need crafts for four more days. I have the idea for an O cereal necklace too, but suggestions too, on the best kind of string would be helpful as well.

Thanks.

What can I do next?

Check out this Family Fun site, i go to it from time to time for ideas to entice my little guy to eat his fruits and veggies. I've used some of the ideas at parties and really think you may find some that will work for you and be within budget, the Crazy Cucumber Snakes are fun, as are the Fruit Flowers:

We made "apple smiles" in Brownies.....

Apple wedges, spread peanut butter on one side of two apple slices... add a couple of mini-marshmallows for teeth... (Use red apples... the skin looks like lips...)

Or..... add raisins, and tell them that is what their teeth will look like if they don't brush their teeth!

Hmm... here's another one..... take a canned biscuit, flatten it out, and spoon a bit of pizza sauce on top, and top with some shredded cheese, then bake....

How about the dirt dessert, where you can give each kid a small clear plastic cup with prepared chocolate pudding, then they can add the crumbled oreo cookies and gummy worms (or any other candy bug you can find). Pudding is pretty inexpensive, you can get generic cookies (they'll never know after you crush them)!

Would it be poosible for a parent to donate an extra snack a day?

In the winter, I make penguins out of oreo cookies. I buy the oreos and candy corn. I have another parent donate white frosting. And I have a second parent bring in M&Ms for the eyes. **Ask for these donations the day BEFORE the craft, in case they forget...

Do a search-- "edible summer preschool foods"

Sometimes it's just fun to make a "face" on a paper plate---Olives for eyes, sliced carrots to form a mouth, broccoli for ears, etc...Or a fruit face. I would rec using cream cheese to keep the food pcs from rolling !

Do you have a juicer? It's fun to juice watermelon.

Oriental trading has a few nice sticker scenes that be purchased on a budget if you need a time filler.

Perpetualpreschool.com has good ideas by theme.

I can honestly say that if you plan on actually feed a group that large a snack that is supposed to fit any sort of nutritional guidelines, such as child care or a Y program, you cannot do it and meet the requirements set by the licensing guidelines.

If this is just an actual craft that they get to do and it is not an actual snack that is to meet any sort of nutritional standards then you might try going to family fun magazine online for ideas. They have whole sections of crafts, snacks, meals, etc....

popcorn strings? Necklaces and bracelets come to mind. Popcorn is relatively cheap.
Lifesavers are another easy to utilize craft item that is edible...
Wish I could be more help, but all I can think of is "stringing" things.
I'm sure other moms will have WAY better ideas for "craft" snacks.
Pretzels would be something you could build with... not sure what to build or how to make them glue together.... but it's a thought.
