Ok,I have sorta a silly concern/question! lol!
I am wondering how many have had inaccurate sono readings??? Been told it was one sex and turned out to be another???
I have three boys now.I am currently pregnant,5 months. I went to get my sono last week, and right from the get,the sonographer referred to the baby as..."this is his head"...this is his brain,etc".....as my husband said is it a boy?? She stated,I dont know,I am starting at the top and working my way down....then she kept referring again ,his,he,etc...finally again my husband said,is it a boy? She stated, well,of course, look, you have three here now,how could you expect a girl with having three boys????
That made me and my husband look at each other and go...oookkkkk.....she pointed out the area, what makes him a boy,lol....after looking and looking at the pics,i told my husband, this just doesnt look like a boy part! My friends looked at it and said,it looks like the embilical cord! I took out my other three sons sonos to kinda compare, and its nothing close! This does look like an embilical cord! Can this happen?? lol...ive been racking my brain,wondering..We;ve put all boy shopping on hold,lol...
I wish i knew someone who could read sono pics...
Curious if this has happened to others?
Very curious! Thanks moms!:0)

I don't know of anyone personally that this has happened to, but one of my husbands co-workers was told at 4 months that she was having a girl and then again at 6 months she was told the same thing. When she had a sonogram at 8 months to make sure the baby was in the head down position, it all of a sudden as a boy. So, it is possible that the readings can be wrong, or at least the sonotech was mislead by the reading.

The only time I have ever heard of sonos being wrong were a few years back. Since then they have always been on the money but in this case the nurse does sound a little fishy. If you can afford it I would DEFINATLY check out www.windowinthewomb.com and there will be no doubt with them. They are the best priced out of every place I have seen. 3D and 4D sonos are just AMAZING! My sister in law and 2 of them and its amazing how much you could see even down to her hair and chubby little cheeks and that she had daddys nose! Here they give you a DVD of the sono a CD of all the pics and prints etc. Its actually very reasonable priced and worth the money. Any doubts for boy or girl this place will for SURE clear it up for you and give you a wonderful experience!

Sometimes it is hard to tell depending on the position of the baby. I was High risk with both of my babies so we had several sono. The biginning ones are hard to see.

My girl friend only got 1 sono on her insurance it was early just to confirm she was PG.

Sh they got the 4D and she sent me some pictures.
They are really great. The 4D Sono you can see things you can't see on the reg one. They can definately tell
what the sex is.

I thought they weren't worth it,
since we had to go every week in the last trimester.

If we could only see once I would go ahead and get the
4 D.

I guess it is possible for anyone to make a mistake... I git my sonograms done at the White Rose Clinic. It costs $50 but Mary should be able to help you.

Our "boy" results were right on the money.
If your doc won't do another sono before you deliver, you can pay out of pocket for one of those 3D or 4D sonograms.

I've read that they are most likely right when they say it's a boy. More chance of getting it wrong when they first call it a girl. We have two boys and the sono's were on the money. I even checked the Chinese birth calendar and it said I was having boys. They are the light of my world.

They told my mom I was a boy, but they were wrong. BUT, that was a long time ago!! Both of mine were right about being a girl. I do know sometimes it is hard to tell. It could be an umbilical cord, a hand, so many things. Also, it may be too early to tell. Is it possible for you to get another sono? They never guarantee 100% one way or the other...remember it is up to the interpretation of the tech. You might call your Dr. and ask her/him to review to sono pictures and she what she thinks.

If you can't be sure one way or the other....I see a lot of green and yellow in your future! LOL!

I know the feeling with both my girls I was just not quite sure of what the sonographer was really seeing. So, I would HIGHLY recommend getting a second opinion. If you have some money to spare. We have used Stork Vision three times now and have LOVED every minute of it. It's $125 for the basic package, but I promise its worth it. Not only are you guarenteed gender-determination -- you also get a 15-20 minute DVD of your sonogram and several pictures to take with you. They are located in North Richland Hills (near the Walmart at North Tarrant)...visit their web site for more info at www.storkvision.com. If you have further questions you can email me personally at ____@____.com luck!!

The entire 9 months I was pregnant, my doctor and my specialist told me I was having a boy. I had 2 regular sonograms and level 2 sonograms every 2 weeks. She turned out to be a girl, so I guess you never really know. Good luck

I have 4 daughters. With my first one, they told me it was a girl-but there was always the slight chance that they could be wrong. With my second daughter, they got it right too. With my third daughter, on my first sono, they told me she was a boy. On my next sono, they figured it was just the umbilical cord in the way. On my last daughter, they were positive that she was a boy-showed me the boy parts & everything. We bought all boy things. The second to the last week I fell & had to have a sono (just in case). While I was laying there she asked me if I knew what I was having. I was so happy to get to say a boy finally. She looked for a minute & was real quiet & said nope-it's a girl. It was very obvious. We had to exchange everything we bought right before the big day! So they do make mistakes.

We didn't find out with either of our kiddos (both boys), but my cousin and his wife did. They have a 2 1/2 year old just a few months older than my oldest son. They first sent out a sono saying, "It's a girl!" Two weeks later - "Scratch that - it's most definitely a boy!" So, I know they can miss it. Hope you get a better reading before you deliver!

I would bring it in to your doctor and have them look at it. We have two boys and there was not mistkaing their "manhood" our last was little girl and there was no mistaking her lack there of. Your doctor should be able to read it and tell you but my hunch would be you know what you are looking at.

It never happened to me but did to a friend of mine. She already had one daughter and was told that she was having a boy. Turned out to be another girl. I've heard, though, that a Level 2 sono is more accurate.
