I have lived in Waterford for a year now and i plan on having another baby soon but i wanted to get some info before hand. I wanted to know what is a good hospital? I have looked at Huron Valley Sinai and NOMC, but i wanted some insiders opinins as to what Hospital you delivered at and how you liked it? I would be OK with a birthing center as well but only if they offer MEDS and epidurals, i don't know though. Thanks for your help

Royal Oak Beaumont is a great hospital to deliver at. All rooms are private. I had a great experience there.

I know you have decide on Huron Valley, but just in case you go into labor away from home, dont be afaid of Southfield Provedence. I live in Pontiac but delievered both my girls there. The doctors are awesome, the security made me feel extreemly safe (they have 3 different checks to be sure no one can walk away with your child. There are different types of rooms, where I was it is set up so not only do you go through the whole labor and delievery in one room, but the baby is checked after delivery in the same room as well, then once everything is clear, they take you both to a private room. For my second child I had to have an emergency c-section and I have to say if I was a rich women my nurse would have gotten a new car or something. I was terrified adn not only did she stay by my side through the whole thing, she explained everything reassured me before my husband was allowed in and stayed through till the end and we were ok and in the private room (hours later) the nurses there are the best! I really cannot rave enough about this place... I chose my peditrician from there as well! - K.

First off, congratulations on your soon to be new baby. I have 2 children (4yrs & 2 1/2yrs) and I delivered both of my children at Huron Valley Sinai. Both of my experiences were phenominal. Everyone that I know who gets pregnant (for the first time) I recommend SVSH to. The nurses were all awesome and you get your own PRIVATE rooms no matter what. I lived in Livonia when I had my babies and I didn't care how long the drive was, I think it's the best hospital to have a baby at. I have seen many other birthing centers in other hospitals, and no other compares. I hope this helps!

I second the response to Beaumont for all the same reasons. In my opinion, there is just no other place to go. All the rooms in Royal Oak are now private and you will get unbelieveable care at this hospital. I delivered at Royal Oak a year ago and it exceeded any expectations I ever had. My sister delivered her first at Beaumont and second somewhere else (she moved to Howell and thought she was too far) and had major regretts she did not go back to Beaumont.

HI K., I delivered my daughter at Huron Valley-Sinai Hospital and had a great experience. The rooms in their birthing center are so nice, it almost feels like you're in a hotel room. All the rooms are private, so you're never moved from labor to delivery to recovery to postpartum, etc. as you are in some hospitals. The nursing staff is EXCEPTIONAL. They are some of the most outstanding nurses I have ever encountered. My daugher spent 2 weeks in the NICU there and received top-notch, state-of-the-art care. I highly recommend Huron Valley-Sinai. Best of luck to you!

Huron Valley is excellent! I delivered my second child there in 1999. The birthing suites are beautiful, professional and caring staff EVERYWHERE and most importantly they have physicians from Childrens Hospital on staff. Having a son that underwent Open-heart surgery at Childrens Hospital of Michigan in Detroit I know all too well that not all Pediatricians are the same. Should you need an expert opinon for your newborn they have some of the best physicians on staff. Good Luck!

Beaumont, Beaumont, Beaumont. They are one of the largest hospitals in Michigan. They have the money for the most talented Dr.s and nurses. They have a brand new birthing center and it is fabulous. My friend delivered her son at another smaller hospital and when something went wrong they had to send her and her brand new baby by ambulance to Beaumont because they didn't have the equipment or trained staff to handle it. I won't name the hospital, but it was a terrible situation and they didn't have a Neonatologist on staff 24 hours a day like a Beaumont has. Why start out somewhere that may not be able to provide you and the baby with the best care? I realize I sound like their spokesperson, but I have had nothing but wonderful experiences with this hospital and staff. I wouldn't go anywhere else. I would also ask your OBGYN which hospital he-she prefers, they probably know more than anyone. Best of luck to you and your new little one!

I delivered at Huron Valley and I don't have enough good things to say about it. The rooms are so comfortable, the staff is super-friendly and it was so nice to not ever have to leave my room. There is also a flip out sleeper for your husbands which most hospitals don't have. I felt so confident in their abilities and in the facility. Plus, my doctor was amazing! I am so sure if I was somewhere else, I would have ended up having a c-section.

Beaumont Royal Oak, for sure!! I had both of my children there and I wouldn't want to go anywhere else. The staff in both delivery and post-partum are wonderful! The best thing is that when I had my first child in May of 2005 the rooms weren't all private, but when I went back for my second in July all of the rooms are now private. I had a huge, beautiful room all to myself! Good Luck with your decision!!
