In Need of Borrowing Some Baby Gear!!

First of all, travel with your stroller. You will need it to get through the airport in one piece, especially if you have a double stroller. And, ask for help....most security people and gate agents are very nice to moms traveling alone. The security people usually help me get the storller up on the scanner while I am gettingthe kids out. Make sure you are very early so that you are not stressed for time when it takes a while. It is better to wait in the airport then to run through it frazzeled.
As far as the baby gear goes, I know for sure that I have a bouncy seat in great condition that you can borrow. Most of the other stuff my 9 month old is still using. Let me know if you want it and we can arrange a pick up. We used to live in Queen Creek and I am familiar with the area and out there often to visit friends. I will look around and see what else I have tonight when I get home from work. Let me know if you want the bouncy seat. Good luck with the move!

As far as flying, try to make sure you feed the older one before getting on the plane and bring a backpack with coloring books, reading books, and a favorite toy that she can carry. Make sure sippy cups are easily accessible and it might be a good idea if you brought a cup with a lid for yourself since things can get clumsy while dealing with 2 children and the last thing you need is a drink spilled in your lap. I also suggest feeding the two month old during take off, that way their ears don't bother them during take off. I tried to feed my daughter right during that time. She usually would sleep through the flight then.

If you are flying out of Seattle, the flight is about 3-4 hours with boarding, in air, and landing. So make sure you bring enough things to keep your daughters attention the entire time. Hopefully, she will sleep through part of it.

For the youngest I highly suggest getting some kind of carrier like a sling or front carrier to free up your hands while on the plane, especially with a 2yo.

Also, make sure diapers are changed before boarding and make sure to put diaper cream on too, you may not be able to change any diapers until after you land and it's not fun for the little one if they develop a rash during the flight. It is very difficult to change a diaper on a cramped airplane. I speak from experience.

I would absolutely love to let you borrow some items. We were just thinking about getting ready to get rid of these items and this would be a way for us to do this temporarily. Welcome to AZ - I don't have any items, my kids are 8 and 5 but the best advice I got when I would travel with my little ones was to take a bed pillow. That way you can put the little one down to sleep on the pillow, move it and they won't wake up. If you do have a seat in your row that is empty the pillow fits nicely there and the baby can sleep while you tend to the older one. It was definitely a life saver for me when I would travel from Florida to AZ with my two!

Hi - Goodwill and Savers Department Stores here and in Washington are great places to get these items for very little money - also, Look On Craigs List in the Childrens and Baby Section and in the Garage Sales - People need money right now and are selling off their un needed gear for a fraction - Also, Try Other mothers and Once upon a Baby or other Seocnd Hand Baby Stores that resell and also take consignments - they are good condition with LOW prices - when you are thru with your items and need them no longer you can resell them or gift them or Garage Sale them - Good Luck!! I don't have any baby gear any more, I am sorry to say or I'd love to help....

I do have advice on flying. Take the car seats on the plane. My sister in law has traveled many times with her young ones and she says if you put them in the carseat, it reminds them of being in the car and they stay seated. Versus if you just buckle them in, they might want to get up and walk around, etc.
I would also take crayons, coloring books, stickers, any of your child's favorite things to keep her occupied. Your little baby will probably be okay. I would research a little about the pressure on planes (ear situation) to see if there is anything you can or should do regarding that.

Hi H., I live in Queen Creek too! I have a 6, 4, and 2 year old and I fly alone with them about every 4 months and have been doing that since my first was 1 1/2 mos old. Bring the stroller with you!!! Even if it is only a single stroller at least while in the airport you have one child belted in, a place to hang and keep your carry on and I would always set the older child on the tray/ handle thing to ride on top (not really safe but they think it is cool and you are not breaking your back or making sure they are following.) You can push your stroller right up to the plane, leave it there and when you get off it will be right there again for you to use. Use a backpack for carry on bag, another hand freeing thing. Keep all toys that light up or sing a song (anything with batteries) in one location because many times security will want them placed in the tray at the check point just as they do your computer. I always kept those toys in one pouch part of the backpack and dump it into the tray. Bring an empty sippy cup for the 2yr old and fill it after security in the drinking fountain instead of paying $2 for a bottle of water. If you breastfeed that is wonderful for take off and landing on the babies ears, otherwise use a pacifier. Pretzels are a great snack for you 2yr old, not too messy. If your 2yr old doesn't nap on the plane and is getting bored walk up and down the isle with her -as long as she is not being crazy, she will enjoy looking at the other passangers faces, maybe see another kid and just a little distraction, but I would wait until you have been in the air a while so you don't have to do this the entire flight- it gets old for mama quick! The skymall mag. is great for toddlers, first look for pictures with puppies and such and when she is bored of that let her rip it up!
People will look at you and fear you as you are going through the airport, they think you are going to be slow and you your kids will throw tantrums the whole way. When I stand in the security line people look terribly rude! Funny thing is many times I am faster than they are and they are only responsible for themselves:) And there are countless times that I have people admit they were really worried about how things were going to go and they have complimented and apoligized.
I won't lie to you, I have never had a bad flight, they really couldn't go any better but I still get terribly anxious before every one wondering how the kids will behave. Deep breathing, that helps!! And I wish you the best of luck with your ladies on the flight!

Now.... I do have a little bit of baby gear left. I have a pack 'n play with the basinet and changing station (if your relatives have a crib for the baby I would use the pack n play for your 2yr old to sleep in, you will probable get better sleep, her too. I have a fisher price rock and vibrate bouncy, a pad that goes on a changing table with cover that I never used and you could set that on a dresser where you are staying. I have little baby baby toys for your youngest to use istead of getting new ones. If I think of anything else I will let you know.
