In Need of Baby Items
I am an expectant mother. I am having a boy. I was wondering if anyone knows where to buy gently used clothing for babies, a car sit, a crib, baby bouncer, and other baby items. Does anyone have any baby boy items that they don't use anymore?

Hi N.,
I have a ton of baby boy items that you could have. When are you due?
Also, I've bought and sold baby and toddler things at Once Upon a Child, of which there are several locations including Maplewood.
Email me if you're interested.

Once Upon a Child is an excellent place for gently used baby/toddler items. They are located on White Bear Ave just past Maplewood Mall (south). They are a consignment store so prices are very reasonable.

My husband and I recently decided against having a second child so we do have a few items available including a car seat, a bath tub, and a swing, all gently used. I'm located in Woodbury, let me know if you are interested. Thanks

The cheapest way to find baby things is at garage sales and church rummage sales, if you can wait till the garage sale season starts (late May), and if you have time to do that. Really good quality and selection is also available at Once Upon a Child consignment stores. Try Savers or Unique Thrift Store or other thrift stores for baby clothes--you'll get great bargains. Good luck and congrats!

Try www.craigslist.com and go to the Minneapolis section, and look under item for sale, category "Babys+Kids" here is the link http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/bab/
it is a great way to get stuff!
Or go to Once Upon a Child stores.. there is one one near Maplewood Mall.
or, my personal favorite.. GARAGR SALES!!

There are consignment stores that sell children/baby things like Once Upon a Child. There is one just south of Maplewood Mall on White Bear Ave. You can also check out garage/yard sales. Also some organizations like La Leche League and Mothers of Multiples hold consignment sales also, you would have to contact them since I don't think it is widely advertised. And there is always e-bay. Good Luck.

What types of clothing are you looking for? I have quite a bit of used clothing for boys since I have 2 boys of my own. I could go through what I have and see if what I have would be of use for you if I knew what you were looking for.

A really good place to start is Once Upon a Child; there is one on White Bear Ave near the mall (close to the Beam Ave intersection). But this time of the year all the ECFE programs are gearing up for their "Stuff Sales". I know the Roseville one happens at the end April. Call ###-###-#### for more details. "Stuff Sales" are like great big huge garage sales and you need to get up early and go as soon as they open. I have also been to stuff sales in Woodbury, Oakdale, White Bear...theyre always good. Just look up the numbers in the phone book for the school districts ECFE programs. You wont be disappointed (unless you sleep in!!)

your bestbets are once upon a child and savers if you have time to look savers is a good place for clothing they even have half priced days if you sign up for there email. I have a stroller but it is an umbrella one that you are not suppose to use until babys are 4 months old. also watch toys r us for there adds and if you sign up for their baby registry they send you coupons in the mail. You can also try the salvation army store because they still take baby items. Just don't buy a used car seat they are not safe. Save everywhere except on those spend the money and get a good one.

Hello,
I would definately go to Once Upon a Child. They have them all over the Twin Cities. I've been there a few times and you can get just about everything you need there. Also, don't be shy about going to garage sales. I started going after having my girls and you can find practically brand new stuff for cheap. Good luck! You sound like you have a lot on your plate. God bless you and your little boy.

This is just an FYI. I found out last year that White BEar Lake (the school district I lived in at the time) has an annual garage sale with items from the early childhood and family education moms. This year the sale is on May 6th. I am sure you could check their website for the exact info. It was great. We bought car seats, high chairs (one for grandma) and a ton of clothes. Everything is priced really cheap and people actually stand in line outside before the location opens. I would say if you don't go within the first hour of the sale pretty everything is picked over. I will for sure be back there again this year. Feel free to contact me for more info. and I will be happy to share with you what I find out. Congrats. on the baby and happy bargain hunting.

Try "Craigslist" online to purchase used items.
When are you due? Depending on when you need things, I may be ready to get rid of things - I have a 2 year old son and a 3 month old daughter.

Once upon a child (I believe there is one not far from Maplewood) in tamarack mall of woodbury. They had very nice item when I was there. Roseville store is less expensive but not as nice- I get most things from there. Call different stores for prices, some are better than others for the same item.
If you really need things for free, there is a program called footprints I believe in chrystal or something that helps mothers out with nice baby things- they ask that you attend a parenting class I think
