Hi, I am a SAHM 28yrs old. I have a 9yr old and a 14mo old. I am really looking to start working out but am not able to at home due to being so busy with my boys and my husband is not home until late at night. So, I am looking for a women's gym with childcare for my little one so I can go while my older son is at school. I live in Glendale near 35th ave & the 101. I was also wondering if any of you ladies know of a good dieting book or website for smart things to eat, but not crazy things I would have to go out of my way to buy at special stores. I would like to loose at least 10-13 more pounds. Any advice would be great too! Thank you for your advice. :)

What can I do next?

I go to Transformer Fitnesswhich is a private personal training studio at 39th and Cactus. I take my 2 YO daughter and they have a kids area that is visible and accessible to me while I am working out and my daughter plays with the toys and watches movies on the DVD player and TV they have. Their website is: http://www.transformerfitness.com Chris's rates are SO reasonable for personal training and the results come much quicker that at a traditional gym I have found. His phone # is ###-###-#### and his email is ____@____.com

Good Luck!

I hear pure fitness has good childcare. I have coworkers who go there.
I work in childcare at a church who has a few aerobics classes. only thing is you do have to pay for child care.

Our family uses the 24 Hour Fitness at Bell Road and 43rd Avenue. It's not a "women's" gym, but it is much more discrete than many places, in that the aerobics room has one window that is tinted and there's only one window into the pool area. It's a very family-friendly place, versus being a meat-market type of place that some other gyms are.

Our 16 month old daughter loves the children's area. The same woman is there every morning 8-12, all seven days per week. I think the consistency of her being there has made all the difference for my daughter being happy while at the gym. They also have childcare in the evenings, but we don't typically go that time of day.

have u tried looking into the ymca? They have daycare -at least the one by me- they are cheap to get a membership and not only do they have a full gym but they also have lots of free classes for ppl of all ages at all times. Im taking water aerobics with my mom, kickboxing, yoga and looking into dance. All free all different stages of difficulty and if u just want a full gym and/or a personal trainer they have that too.

I just joined LA Fitness on 55 and Bell. I am also on 35th a Pinnacle Peak. I paid for the 2 year plan which in the long run was much cheaper. they have child care for $3 drop in rate or $6 monthly rate so not too expensive. I have 3 kids 5 and under so I can bring all or just one. I needed the flexability of a 24 hour club(during the week) that had the classes I wanted to take with Childcare and so far this is working for me. Right now it is kinda far (I prefer something closer)but in the next year they will be opening a new location near the Walmart on Happy Valley. Being close will be another great motivating factor for me. Now I just have to keep up the workouts until it opens.

Fitness One on the SW corner of 35th Ave & Union Hills has daycare and good rates. You might be able to talk them into a deal if you said I referred you. Although it's a co-ed gym, it's got all you need to get toned up and there are classes as well.

I've been a member there since I moved to AZ 5 yrs ago. I like the gym a lot.

BTW, I have a 14 mo old boy, too! I've been in MI all summer, but when I return on Monday, I will be hitting the gym regularly. Let me know if you want a workout partner!

Hi, I used to live right where you are at and went to LA Fitness on 55th and Bell for over two years. I really liked the staff at the kids club. It is not however a women's only gym. The best website is the dailyplate.com. You can log your daily calories, join groups with similar goals, and the have great forum discussions to find out a lot of valuable diet and nutrition info.
