Implanation Bleeding or the Start of My Period?

Hello! I just recently stopped taking my bcp's Thursday June 11th so me and my husband can start trying to conceive. Normally, if I miss a pill my body is quick to tell me something because I spot for like 2 days. Well I stopped taking them on the week that I was suppose to start my period. I had some spotting yesterday with mucus and pink and brown discharge. Then today I am bleeding dark red blood with BAD cramps and headache. I took a pregnancy test on Wednesday, it was negative. Is it too soon to tell if I'm pregnant, or is my body just thrown off because I stopped....I also missed a lot of pills in my last pack..I only took 9 through out the whole month, In the first week (white pills) I missed 5, the second week (light blue pills) I missed 3, and the third week (dark blue pills) I missed 4, and didn't take any the week I was suppose to start. Just to let you know..Thanks!

each woman's body is different on how they handle things.....I would call you obgyn and see what they think.

I read your post yesterday and I really, personally, think your body is just completely out of whack with recently taking and then missing your pills so frequently.
Since you are trying to get pregnant, just be sure to be eating right and taking care of yourself, no drinking.
It actually may take some time to get pregnant depending on how long you were on the pill so try to be patient. I know it's difficult.
The changing of your hormones can be causing the headache. I would say to document this as a period and then go from there. It may take some time for your body to adjust to the changes. I'm no doctor, but I think it's a good thing for you to bleed and get your uterus cleared out so you can have a fresh start for when you do get pregnant.
Remember that birth control pills basically "trick" your body into thinking it's pregnant in order to prevent pregnancy. You were a little erratic with your pills so I think your body is confused and trying to get itself straightened out. That's a good thing.

I wish you the best!

You are definitely having your period.

It's hard not to be impatient, I know, but give it a little time and I'm sure you'll conceive.

Sounds like you're starting your period (I believe implantation bleeding is more like spotting). Hang in there, it would be great if you were already pregnant, but it seems unlikely. The good news is, sounds like your body is resetting itself properly, so hopefully you'll conceive quickly.

I agree with the other posts. Don't be discouraged, but it may take a while for your body to adjust on its own without the bcp's. Once I got off my pills, my cycle would bounce anywhere from 3 to 8 weeks, and it took me more than half a year to return to my regular cycle. Of course, it didn't help that I was traveling overseas during that time. Take your vitamins (esp folic acid) and eat regular, well balanced meals. Best of luck to you!

Sounds like your period. From what I understand implantation bleeding would be a lot lighter. And there can be implantation cramping, but I don't think it would be that bad, as you describe. Your body is probably out of whack a little from the pills you missed. You might not ovulate until a month after you stopped the pill. Try not to stress out too much! Best of luck, hopefully it will happen for you soon!

Implantation bleeding would be very light. If you are bleeding dark red blood then it sounds like your period. Pregnancy tests are very accurate, if you took one and it said you are not pregnant (in addition to your bleeding) then it is 99% probabable that you are in fact not pregnant. If you have any doubts, see your doctor.. they can do a blood test wich shows up a lot sooner than the home pregnancy tests. Like I said though... sounds like a period... Good luck trying to conceive. =)

Sounds like your period, but because you want to conceive you may want to start taking a good prenatal vitamin now, make sure you have a daily intake of folic acid to prevent some birth defects. I know its hard to wait when you are ready to be pregnant. just hang in there.
good luck
