For about 6 weeks now my precious little girl has been battling this terrible diaper rash. It started off with this one big raw spot on her sweet little cheek- about the size of a dime. I mean just one morning the spot was there like POOF. Well it never healed and eventually spread of course. It turned into a bunch of little red dots which screamed "yeast" to me. Okay- she has had that before no biggie. After talking with her Doctor he gave me the okay to use the Nystatin cream from her previous yeast rash that we still had.

One week later it was even worse. All of the little red dots had turned into bumps that almost looked like blisters We tried all of the over-the-counter creams too. So two weeks ago I finally took her to see her Doctor- he diagnosed it as a "bacterial rash" because of the blisters and gave her another cream called Bactoban. He said it should be gone in 7-10 days. It is better- the blisters are gone and dried out but she still has all these raw red spots that won't heal where the blisters were at.

Well the 10 days are up and we just got back from the Doctor again this time he said it looks alot like Impetigo and wants us to continue to use the Bactroban on her twice a day and he gave her an Antibiotic to take as well. What the heck is going on with my sweet girls poor bum?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Yea, I was thinking the same thing about it sounding like staph. My husband took her to the Doctor, I would have asked him to swab it and have it tested but you know how husbands are. She is starting her antibiotic today so hopefully it is gone soon.

I wish he had taken a culture or whatever they do to test for that type of staph infection that goes around gyms, daycare, etc. I haven't seen impetigo for years. I seem to remember it crusting, oozing, scab coming off, and repeating the process over and over.

Just recently our daughter had similar spots, and since the diaper rash ointment wasn't making it better we went to the doctor. It took him just a few minutes to say it was yeast and a staph infection. The majority of the spots are all gone, but there are some discolorations where the "staph" was but it's not painful or anything just a little discolored.

I'm not familiar with impetigo. If the rash doesn't improve you might ask about pinworms. My daughter had a horrible rash for several months. Finally treated for pinworms and it cleared up!

It sounds like staph. Might want to have someone else look at it! Hope it clears up soon!
