Are you sure it isnt rosacea? I have the same thing and mine is rosacea! I take a mild antibiotic-doxysiclin(sp) and I use Purpose=$4-$5 at walmart for face cleanser. Make sure that`s what it it! Doesnt sound like impetigo if it keeps coming back. Ask about rosacea or do some research online.

Ive also read the responses and yes, if the dr. is wrong--only the tea tree oil made mine WAY worse-but I have rosacea and not other.

As a sufferer myself, I found the best treatment is natural honey. I put it on in the morning and before bed (careful it is really sticky and doesnt look the best when going out). I have found it to not only soothes the pain and redness, but cuts down the run of the thing by a few days. Unfortunately not a quick fix as one would hope, but a slow fix that doesn't irritate anything more. If you have outdoor allergies though like ragweed, I would test it out first on something inconspicuous like a little patch on your thigh to make sure there is no reaction. Good luck!!

What you likely have is a more serious form of impetigo, since it is painful and you are an adult. It is called ecthyma. Basic impetigo is often painless and usually effects children/infants. The antibiotic should work.

Here is some great advice on treatments and what you can do at home:

Impetigo is an infection. Not sure why an antibiotic doesn't work. Maybe it's not impetigo? Google "The One-Minute Cure". Read about it and order the book. Well worth the $25 for the book... Amazing results!

Why are you still having symptoms? When I got impetigo (which is self-contagious, it'll go to one part of the body to the other one just by touch) it was better after just one day of taking the antibiotic. Also I did not have blisters...are you sure of the diagnosis?

Here's link you might find helpful. Good luck!
