Hi there ladies,
I just learned that I am pregnant ( with number 2 )
I am living in the north dallas area and am seeking a great obgyn in the frisco, plano, north dallas area that is affordable ( no health insurance at the moment)
My last period was on July the 8th And I took a test yesterday and states that im pregnant.
I Am not sure how far along I am or when the coneception occurs, I am not really good with all those

So please I do prefer a female but I don’t mind a male either.
When is the soonest you can get a sonogram? How Many weeks

What can I do next?

Dr. Paul Meggs in Carrollton is awesome and less expensive than most. ###-###-#### He works out of Trinity Medical Center - which is also much less expensive than other area hospitals. I just had my second baby there without insurance. If you are trying to save $$, the soonest you should get a sono is around 20 weeks because that is the best chance you have of seeing much and finding out the sex. If you don't mind paying for extra sonos, many docs will do them around 12 weeks. Congrats!

I highly recommend Randall Burt, MD ###-###-#### in Plano at Presbyterian Hospital of Plano. It is good to pick your hospital and then pick the physician. He is a physician that delivered both of our little girls and we drive across town to meet with him. He is highly knowledgeable, has a great beside manner, a wonderful staff and doesn't keep you waiting. Congratulations on your blessing.

Hi- If you are wanting a very caring and the most reasonable care possible I'd have to say stay clear of the OB's and find a Midwife! They are so so so much more affordable! There are many in the area. If you qualify for public aid they will cover a CNM, but even if you don't- she will be less exspensive! Here's a few sites to get started.

Congrats on your new baby! Take a deep breath, ask a lot of questions... everything will work out! :)

Hi Natalie,

Congrats on your new pregnancy. I know of a Doctor (Dr Autrey ###-###-####) that has a office in Frisco and Dallas. He works out payment arrangements for cash paying patient. But they do have to have their OB payment in full by the 7th month. Give them a call......I think they then have 3 free sono's included in with the OB price. :)

Depending on your income level you might be eligible for public aid but I can't remember how that works. You might try calling the CHIPS program. They can refer you to the right service if they can't help you.

Having said that I go to Kelly Watkins at Plano Presby. She used to (and I think still does) specialize in teen and youmg Mothers. She is awesome and got me through a very high risk pregnancy and her wait time is minimal.

I would strongly suggest calling CHIPS and Dr. Watkins. If she is still working with teenage Moms her office would know about the insurance thing.

If public aid doesn't work for you know that most doctors are willing to work out a payment plan for you. Ask when you schedule your first appointment.

Good luck!

Dr. Garrett Garner with Northlake OBGYN is at Presby Plano. Fabulous doctor and is with a great group! There are 2 women in the practice and both are very nice. I never waited longer than 20minutes (he was doing a c-section), always called me to answer questions and with lab results. you can go to the presby website and find him there under the "find a physician" section.
As for "no health insurance" I'm not sure what he charges. If you don't qualify for medicaid and you can't find someone in your comfort area I would try Parkland Hospital. They do have a very good maternity/newborn nursery/NICU. Congrats and good luck!

Hi Natalie...congratulations on the new baby!

I have the BEST OB-GYN...EVER! His partner is a woman and she's fabulous, as well. He's been my doctor for years and years, plus he delivered both my babies. They are in North Dallas, Central & Forest Lane, in Medical City, which is a wonderful hospital.

Dr Mark Bernstein & Dr. Camille Clark

Natalie,
I would agree with Megan C. My obgyn is Dr. Garrett Garner and he is fabulous! I delivered 2 of my 3 kids with him and everything Megan said I would agree with. I also know (just b/c I asked) that Presby Plano will work with you financially (they give I think a 30% discount on your services w/ no insurance) and will do a payment plan if you need it. I was extremely happy with everything about the hospital...all the nurses and other staff were great and took very good care of me and my children while I was there (plus the food is to die for!). I am unsure what Dr. Garner's office would do in regards to financial discounts, but it's worth a shot at asking. Their financial office was easy to work with. Dr. Denning and Dr. Campbell are the women in the practice and I've also heard good things about them.

As soon as I made my appt. with Dr. Garner I had my first sono, which determined my edd. I didn't know the last date of my period for my last one (our newest addition was a pleasant surprise) and I was actually 2 weeks behind what I thought I was. So, that was at 6 weeks. Some drs won't see you until later, but he saw me very early on.

Oh, and if I'm correct, you may be due around April 15. :)

Congrats!

Dr Eric Jacoby is out of Plano Presby. My insurance didn't cover anything related to my second pregnancy. I wouldn't say he's cheap but he's the best and his staff is great. They will put you on a payment plan. By the time you have the baby everything for him is paid. All that's left is the hospital bill. Which in my case was a c-section and NICU. GREAT NICU. It was our second time with NICU and the first hospital was not near as good of an experience. Anyway, they do the first sono at 8 weeks.

Congrats!
