Hello all!

I just found out today that I am pregnant with my second! I was going to ask you all a special way to tell daddy, but I couldn't wait so I gave my little girl the positive test and told her to take it to daddy. However, I would like to ask ya'lls opinion on a cute way to tell my family. I live a good 6 hours from them and they ( my mom, step dad, brother and his fiance and aunt and uncle) will all be here for my daughters second birthday party. After the party I was going to have them all over to the house for dinner and wanted to tell them along with my husbands family ( who live right down the rd.) at that point. I guess my question is, did you ever do anything fun to announce your pregnancy? and how?

Thanks so much for your ideas :) ......so excited!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks for all the great ideas! Everything went awesome at the party, great weather and everyone came. I used the idea about using a "Big Sister" shirt. it was so great to see people getting it slowly! I, in the end, clarified that I was indeed pregnant. People thought is was so creative. Thanks again :)

My plan (whenever I becme pregnant with number two) is to put my son in a t-shirt that says "BIG BROTHER" and just see who says something/notices first. (Big brother/sister shirts found at Khol's).

My in-laws live in CA (I'm in Texas) and we do SKYPE often. I will let them see my son on skype video wearing the shirt.

btw - congrats!

I would make her a T-shirt that says 'I'm going to be a Big Sister' and see how long it takes them to notice :-)

For the party, get a bouquet of fresh florews to set in the washroom and arrange them so that you can display the test in there.
See who notices first and let them come out and question it
Big congrats to you, we are currently TTC and I look forward to being able to do something like this too when the time comes
Have fun with it

Pass out champagne glasses after dinner and pour everyone a glass of sparkling cider. When they look perplexed tell them you have an annoucement to celebrate.

When it comes to reaveal the sex, i've seen people do gender cakes. Have the baker put a layer of blue or pink icing as the filling in the cake and ice it, so noone knows until you cut the cake.

I like Cash_Twins idea. Get her a 'Big Sister' tshirt and have it be the last present to it doesn't take away from her gift opening. Or at the beginning of the party, tell them that there is a gift for the family and have it be the ultrasound or something cute!

Congratulations!

We are trying right now and I already bought the "Big Brother" t-shirt, but that's how I plan on telling my husband (along with some donuts).

As for telling the rest of the family, when my mother was pregnant with my youngest sister then sent a picture of the two of us pointing at my mom's belly to the family and then excitedly answered the phone as each person got their picture. It was cute and "pre-internet".

You could do something similar and have one of those "signing frames" at the BBQ afterward, only have two of them... one for the birthday girl and one for the baby (with a framed picture of your belly) and see how quickly they figure it out!

It never works for me. They always know when I'm pregnant. I guess I become extra cranky/sensitive to smells/always going pee... ha! Good thing they live 6 hours away from me now. If I ever get pregnant again... I would just show up all big and huge and shout "Surprise!"

Why don't you hide a plastic baby in a cake slice. When someone bites down on it, they would be like, "What the heck is a baby doing in here?" Then it that would start the whole conversation, "Are you surprised???".

You could purchase something for the new baby and wrap it up and let your daughter open it along with all her other gifts and see everyones reaction!!!!

Haha, my mom always knew before me too. I made her start buying the pregnancy tests because I got tired of freaking out! I never told anyone in a clever way, but with my oldest, I packed a bunch of stuff for my daughter (baby shampoo, a bathing suit, a diaper, etc) in a box and put tags on each one as to what they were used for. I sent the box to my sister with a note on top that asked her if she would mind helping me with some things and then she dug through to find all of the stuff and she is the Godmother :o).

Well, my Mother ALWAYS knows before I do. ALWAYS. Four pregnancies ago she stopped saying "oh, do you and Mike know yet?". So I've never gotten to tell her. She always tells my Dad, too. Party pooper!!

Now, hubby's parents never have any idea. With the first one, we called his parents and said "Do you like Grammy and Grampy? Granny and Gramps? Nana and Pap?" And they were THRILLED TO BITS with that way. With #2 I made #1 a "I'm going be a big brother!" ballcap (he loved ballcaps at that point). It took TWO HOURS for them to notice! lol

My kids are old now, but...when I was pregnant with my second child and saw my mom for the first time after finding out, I said, "Mom, I have a fabulous picture of your granddaughter". She of course thought I was referring to my older daughter (then 2). I pulled out my wallet and pulled out the sonogram of child #2 and handed it to her. She was of course thrilled. This will not work if you don't have a sonogram (obviously) and may not work with so many people in the room but it was very fun to do! Have fun with it.

If you know the gender in time, you could do what a friend of mine did. At the birthday party of older sibling.....she wore a "big sister" shirt. A sealed envelope had been given to the baker with the gender of the baby inside...so the big reveal was when the birthday girl got to the middle of her cupcake! (pink or blue filling) congratulations and good luck!

Congratulations! I cant think of any great ways to annonce it to others but you made me remember a friend who took the pg test and it was positive. She handed it to her 3 yr old daughter and told her to take it to daddy. The little girl walked into the other room and handed it to daddy who said, "ok sweety, I will play sick and you can take my tempature",, and stuck it in his mouth... lol (o:

We put my then 3 yr old in a big sister t-shirt and it took my inlaws 3 hrs to notice. It was driving me crazy. HAHA

Something a friend of mine did was put a picture of the sonogram in a frame and wrapped it up and gave it to the grandparents.

I also had a friend that had a pool party for the family and she wrote with a marker on her belly. Baby inside. She said it actually about 30 min before she was noticed.

Good Luck and have fun. I was always too exicted to get to do to much planning, with baby #1 I actually told my mom and boss before I told my hubby.
