Hi Moms,

I do NOT like to iron, AT ALL!!!!! My husband does it for me (yes, he's the best) He's not always in town though... Any magical sprays that will work so that I do not have to iron???????
PS 90% of my clothes, I hang dry.. I wear a lot of fitted tshirts, tank tops, capri's and workout pants (things I wouldn't want to pay to get ironed at the cleaners).. I'm 5'10" and I feel like everything shrinks on me if it goes into the dryer

What can I do next?

dunno if it would work on women's clothes - but there's a "presser" for men's pants and shirts.

Stands about waist high and looks like a men's suit caddie, but with an oblong compartment standing on end. The compartment is hinged at the bottom - you hang pants/shirt, close compartment and it presses them.

And thanks - now I have something to add to my christmas list.

Hmmm, my suggestion was to hang everything. My husband only wears button down shirts to work, and I’m not about to iron them! After washing, I hang them on a hanger, button the top, and smooth down the entire shirt and seams with my hands so everything is flat. I never need to iron! I don’t put anything in the dryer but undies, undershirts and socks. Even the kid’s clothes get hung to dry. It’s great because they last longer, always look new, stains never set and there is no folding or sorting – just pull it from the laundry room to their closets!

There is a dry cleaners here in town (Austin)that always has great specials. You should call around and see if you can find a place to take your things to be ironed.

I am talking only a buck or 2 to have them ironed beautifully. I attached some places where you live..

Also depending on the fabric.. many times one you have washed something.. If you will pop it into the dryer for just 10 to 15 minutes, you can take shirts out and hang them and they really do not need to be ironed.

Downy Wrinkle Releaser. It's the best. It's $6.99 or so for a bottle, kind of pricey, but I love it and use it along with ironing, it makes ironing so much easier. But you can actually not even have to iron if you use it, a lot of clothes you can just spray it on, smooth out the wrinkles and let the garment hang up and it's fine and all the wrinkles come out. Zero ironing.

Love it!!!! You can buy it at Target or sometimes Walmart carries it. It's in the laundry aisle by the pretreaters usually.

Also drugstore.com sells it. It used to be manufactured by P&G but they sold the right to another company, but you should still be able to find in stores. I turn the garments inside out and spray them when I use it.

On some types of materials it might leave little water dots, so you just have to learn which fabrics it works with and which is doesn't. You know the same items where you get a tiny water dot and it looks funny, well you know you can't use the spray on that type of material, basically rayon type materials are problematic with water splotches in general. Just FYI.

Works great on cottons though! Some people are frugal and make their own spray with water and fabric softener. You can google that. But I completely trust Downy, I rave about it, have been using it about 9 years at least!~

I don't iron. I haven't in years! We do have a steamer I use on occasion if I have to, but I find a quick turn on hot in the dryer usually does the trick.

Invest in a steamer. You hang the clothes up and steam out the wrinkles.

Taking the clothes out the dryer immediately also works wonders.

Or throwing a damp washcloth into the dryer and let them roll for a time also helps take out the wrinkles but we personally love our steamer and use it more than the iron.

UPDATED
We have two steamers. The one we use and love the best is the handheld type. It's compact, light, simple to use and costs around $30.00 at Target.

Sorry - no magic. Help and encouragement, but no magic.

You have some good ideas already. A really good iron is definitely a help. A cheap tool works - well, cheaply.

I iron what I need to iron. There are some things I don't need to, and I certainly don't worry about those! But there's a very old saying: "Well begun is half done." Since ironing is on my job list, I have some dvd movies that I especially like, and I don't watch them unless I'm ironing at the same time. It provides a little incentive as well as a little entertainment.

I totally agree with Rhonda. I do NOT iron unless I have to-and I have a good iron. I take my clothes from the dryer ASAP. If I do not have time to fold them, I lay them flat until I can. The only time I do iron is a special occasion or if I need to refresh my suits and do not want to pay a dry cleaning bill. Downy does have spray for wrinkle release, or if your iron has it, set it on steam iron and smooth out the wrinkles while you steam it. A friend of mine does not even own an iron. On the other side, a friend of my sis irons everything: sheets, pillow cases, sweatshirts, t-shirts.

I don't iron. I've ruined to many good things trying. Hubs does it. If he doesn't, it goes to the cleaner where it will be pressed. You can buy a steamer, but that takes some practice to get right. Lastly, you can hand a thing on a hanger while you shower. The steam will get most of the wrinkles out.

Good luck to you and yours,

I never iron , literally never, unless we are talking about my hair. Instead if something is wrinkled I throw it in the dryer with a wet rag and put it on me or my husband directly out of the dryer.

Kimberly has given you really good advice. A steamer like they have in dress shops is expensive, but oh wow, do they work like nobody's business! What they won't do is give you a nice crease in your pants, but maybe you wouldn't need to too often.

Good luck!

Go to the cleaners, many do shirts at a very reasonable price....OR by wash and wear ONLY and be sure to take them out of the dryer and put them on a hanger right away.

There is (sadly) no magic. But - do you have good iron? It makes a HUGE difference. I bought a new one about a year ago and it has made ironing twice as fast and way more pleasant. And yes - my old one had steam and spritz and was a good brand.
