Ideas on Self Employment Health Insurance

My health insurance premium is set to renew Dec. 1st with an increase of $1,200 a year due to "heightened cost of medical treatment"! (I was already paying $310/month for major medical w/a $2,200 deductible. The means nothing is covered until that is paid first, not even a doctor visit.) This is a policy with Assurant Health. I do have a pre-existing condition (skin cancer/malignant melanoma 4 years ago that was only in situ.) This makes it much more difficult to get insurance across the board. (Isn't our country just peachy when it comes to health care!) Anyone else out there have any ideas on affordable major medical. I am not going to be able to afford this premium as I was already considering the $310 nearly impossible. But it would be absolutely unwise, in my opinion, to go without anything, especially being a single mom.

For routine health care I don't even use my medical as I see a holistic doctor that is amazing and keeping me healthy.

Help. ;o)

Hi S.
Theres this agency called Adelante Insurance in the north side of Fort Worth (stockyards area). Gonzalo Gonzalez is the name of the agent I've used. He gets several quotes from different insurance companies like United Healthcare,Blue Cross & Blue Shield, Unicare, several others. And they are for selfemployed people. I had a coverage for myself and 2 kids for about 100-150 per month. Of course with your PE condition it may run slightly higher but still worth looking into something like that. He scans and emails everything so you don'thave to come in. Hope it helps!

I got onto Unicare after leaving my job. It's very affordable and you can pick lots of differnt options as far as deductibles, co-pays, etc. I just went onto the Unicare website snd sent an email to them I think and then an agent contacted me and got it all set up.
