Ideas Needed for 2 Year Old Birthday Party

Easy foods...
baked mostaccoli, Italian beef, sub sandwhiches, pizza, soup & bread, grilled burgers & brats (though cold for this time of year)...
Goodie bag ideas...dollar store is a great place to get things! Things that go with the theme (if there is one) from the dollar store. Our last birthday party here was my son's 2nd with a sports theme, so we did beach balls along with sport pencils, super balls, balloons that matched the theme stuff, the theme party hats... For the adults I did caramel apples because it was in October. My sister has done candy bars with doing her own wrapper on the picture with her kids picture and something to go with the theme that I thought was a good idea too.

We had catered my daughter's first birthday party from Jimmy John's and we bought sides like potato salad and pasta salad from Jewel ~ it was a big hit! Party City has a huge selection of favors as does The Oriental Trading Company - www.orientaltrading.com. Have fun!

If you can, I would cater - jewel, local restaurant's (we personally love Fox's), Portillos or even Brown's Chicken. For appts... go easy, pretzels, potato chips & onion dip, chips & salsa and maybe just make 1 "homemade" item. Tastefully simple has a bunch of easy and fast appetizers (I am a rep and would be happy to help).

As for goodie bags...I would try and find age appropriate toys... maybe a bunch of little items or maybe even one nice item for each and some candy. Ex - one nice item ... maybe coloring book and washable crayons (i've been told kids get into coloring more at age 2). although you might then want to wait to give the goody bags until after they leave ;) good luck... I am curious about the answers you receive because my twinkies will be 2 next year :)

Maybe you should skip the appetizers this year and grill for the main course. At our last birthdays someone from my family each brought something. We have a very close family and we do this with EVERY event. If your family is up for it, it's MUCH easier than doing it all yourself!
