Ideas for MP3 Player. Where Do I Get the Music??

Do you have digital cable TV? if you do you should have rhapsody too. Which for Digital TV beyond basic has an automatic subscription to Rhapsody. or how about some CDs she likes that you can convert to MP3 when you download them from the CD if you have like Media Player. Real Player has a subscription base I think it is about 9.95 a month that you can download music also that doesn't have viruses. Hope this helps.

If you have Windows Media Player, you can copy songs from your CD collection onto your computer and convert them to mp3 format. That's what we do a lot. You can download stuff from all over the place (artist official websites and such), but that can get expensive.

There are lots of different places. The best places are websites where you pay for the songs. You know they are 100% legal. If you have virus protection on your computer, you should be ok. I would think you'd be able to use iTunes even if it's not an iPod. You may not be able to download all the extras like videos and stuff though. The best thing would be to go to the manufacturer's website and see what they recommend.

I used windows media player and either "burned" my own cd's or bought music from a site through windows...we have my ipod, my juke phone and my daughters disnex mixstick (mp3) through that and it works great! Also, you can borrow cd's from the library and "burn" those for no cost!!

Limewire.com is a good one.
But keep in mind that any time you download something you stand that risk of a virus.

My husband loves his music really you have no idea how many cd's we have in the basement of 80's music. The websites he uses are GoMusic.RU and mp3sale.RU they are overseas websites and when you spend like 50.00 dollars you get 25.00 free (I think) like I said my hubby is the music obsessed one. We have gotten some awesome CD's and we have not had any problems with them. You may want to check it out. Best of luck.

Amazon.com is a great place that is safe to download music for MP3 players.

I would definitely stay away from the sites that you can download music for free. My neighbor downloaded songs from Limewire and started having problems with her computer. On another message board that I read, several others said that they also had problems with their computers after getting songs from Limewire.

I've bought and downloaded songs from Rhapsody without any problems. Most of my songs I get from Itunes or from CDs.

We used Bearshare for a while. That seemed to be fine. I am not computer savvy so my husband does all that. I believe its a membership thing so you dont have to pay by the song

You can use itunes or any other website with an MP3 player. It doesn't matter what brand you have, they all use the same file type. Ipod is a brand of MP3 player just like all the others. When you download, download onto your hard drive, then use your media player to sync to your mp3 player. It's easy and quick. I do know people who have had problems with viruses and limewire, so be careful if you use that, but that's the only experiences I've heard that were bad.

We tried several different sites for our music and none of them seemed as reliable as Itunes or Napster. Both you have to pay a monthly fee. We pay $14 a month for Napster for our Sony MP3 players. I really like it and it's really simple to use, much more so than Itunes in my opinion. There are a few, a very few, songs on Napster that you have to pay an additional 99 cents for the song, but again, there are very few. So for $14 a month I can pretty much download an unlimited amount of music to put in my MP3 and be sure that I'm downloading legally.

I know from my computer issues older computers do not work well with some of the sites. They make the computer run very slow. My grandson has the Ipod but my son has a MP3 player and they both down load stuff from the computer but my grandson has so many CD's he just brings them and transfers them through the computer to the Ipod. I will ask both what sites they use. Some are better than others for playing clearly and having the newest stuff. I havenever gotten a virus from any of the sites but I do make sure when they are using my computer it's a real site. Sometimes you think it's a good deal to find out you now have a major issue.

You can use I tunes! All you have to do is open the device folder in another window and drag and drop the songs into it! As for getting music, I am a big fan of limewire! You can drag and drop the songs straight from the limewire download folder or library right into your devices folder as well which might be easier for you because your music to itunes can get tedious! We use limewire also, but we have heavy security on our computers and constantly run scans after heavy downloading. You have to have security if you are going to be downloading music.

Look no further than your very own CD collection. No chance of virus there. The MP3 player most likely came with it's own software that you can "rip" the CD onto. The nice part of that is if he has a CD from a friend that he likes, just pop it into the computer and he can have it for his collection.
